My Sentiments Exactly

I have never been very good at putting things into words but on my All Ears newsletter today I found someone who did it for me:
"In spite of more than 12 trips since the late '80s, the warmth, colors, sounds and "magic" of passing beneath the Walt Disney World Railroad Station and emerging on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom STILL makes my heart soar, and a smile stretch from ear to ear. It's a place where you'll find that time doesn't move -- you can lock into a childhood where Mom held your hand while crossing the street, and Dad would protect you from everything."John

There are so many things in this world that can let you down. Its nice to know that the feeling as you enter MK is one of those things that you KNOW you can count on. I am always very excited as I approach the Main Street Station... I can feel my heart fill with pixie dust as I walk through the darkness of the station. As I emerge into the sunlight and see the castle, I feel like a kid at Christmas. There is so much joy in something so simple.... WITHOUT FAIL.... it happens everytime. ;)

Walt Disney World is place that I can't wait to get back too. I get giddy with anticipation. I'm like a kid again. It a place where I can hold my kids close and be silly with them (and they don't have to worry about their friends seeing them act wierd). The place just gives me the warm and fuzzies and when it's time to leave I get so bummed. It like having to leave a good friend. You never want the feeling or your time to end.

When I walk up Main Street I feel like everything is right with the world. I will never forget the look on my DS's face as we took his first walk up Main Street. There is nothing else like it. I love the way the Magic Kingdom shuts out the rest of the world. It is so easy to forget all we have to deal with in our real lives.

While we are at WDW we are just a family. I am not a teacher, I do not have bills sitting on the desk to pay, I don't have phone calls to make or a boss to deal with. We are just a family and we have a week to enjoy every minute together.

Every time I return to WDW I feel the same magic I did the first time I walked up Main Street. In fact, I think it gets better every time.

It not necessary Main Street that does it for me. It's the castle. As I approach Cinderella's castle, I can honestly say that I get goosbumps of excitement. I actually have to control myself to not make a sprint for it. (I did in 2000 with a bewildered 6yr old in tow) I can't even put in to words the joy I feel when I get that full view glimpse by the benches across from the stage. I honestly just stand there with a big grin on my face, stare and control the urge to embarrass myself. This castle has pure magic surrounding it. It can turn a hard-butt, no nonsense retail manager who doesnt take any pooh from anyone into a big giddy ball of mush who wants to put her hair in pigtails and be 7 again. Who needs the fountain of youth when you have Disney?

I can honestly say I start feeling the rush as I approach the Walt Disney Highway and see the big WALT DISNEY WORLD sign (I stay off site and I usually approach by the Marriott and Holiday Inn Family Suites). That's when I start getting really excited. But nothing -- NOTHING -- compares to entering the Magic Kingdom Park, crossing under the Railroad...and then walking a little further until the Castle comes into view......aaahhhh, I'M HOME!!!!!!!! And then the smells of Main Street USA...I can smell the Bakery and taste the popcorn now. Mmmmmmmm........

I have butterflies in my stomach and a lump in my throat just thinking about it. In my world, there really isn't anything so PURE as the feeling of being at Walt Disney World. Hakuna Matata....MEANS NO WORRIES!!! I feel totally care free when I am there and it seriously is the happiest place on EARTH!!!

When am I going back?!? Oh, in about 80 days!!!!!! :laugh :) :laugh :)

I've been going through some rough personal times lately, and one thing that cheers me up is the thought of walking down Main Street, smelling the bakery, hearing the mood music piped seemingly from nowhere. Despite the ups and downs I've been through lately, WDW is the one thing I know that will always be there to make me happy, the one place that the mere thought of will put the biggest smile on my face. You don't think about anything when you're there - its total, complete immersion in fantasy, a million miles away from everyday problems and concerns. Its the happiest place on earth.

my sentiments

I gotta say, the sight of the first red and purple Disney sign does it for me, and the "Welcome Home" sign when we turn into OKW.
My daughter swears that the air feels different as soon we get there. We've been going since 1992 and every year I think that my kids will be too old next time - but they're 19 and 20 and still going strong - and I'm so grateful they are! Our motto "We Do Disney". They even humour their dad and go on It's a Small World.

There is so much trouble and unhappiness in the real world these days, and I sometimes feel guilty that at W DW I'm able to forget about my problems and the world's problems, but maybe that's the way it's suppose to be - just for a while. And for me, the planning and anticipation is just as enjoyable and exciting as getting there.

I agree about the red and purple signs, you know your there!. I remember when my first DS then about 19 months, saw the Castle when it was a giant cake. Which I think was the coolest idea!

We were there very early, and there were no crowds, and there was no backround noise, just the beautiful Christmas music playing as we walk up and through the castle. I will always remember his little foot moving to the music while sitting in his stroller.
Now he is almost six and running in every direction, it is true how you can freeze moments in time at Disney like no other place!

;) Den...It's almost time!!!!

I felt the exact same way when I read the All Ears Newsletter this morning. That was such a great article it really made want to be back there as soon as possible. :p

When we were at WDW in May we were lucky enough to be at MK for the opening ceremonies and I couldn't help but get teary eyed while watching DD. Once we walked onto Main Street I was initially overwhelmed with emotion. How is it that this place can do this to us? It's amazing the joy that this place can bring to people. Why isn't everyone in the world a disneyholic?:laugh

I find myself getting misty eyed several times when at WDW. It always happens to me as I enter Main Street. This past May I also got misty during the parades, when my DS is hugging characters (and he's 9 years old!)..I never know when I am going to need a hanky! Guess WDW just does it to me! Cant wait till we can go back so I can cry some more!

MK

The MK is the place where my family vacationed many summers. Those days are looked upon as the good times, when everyone was together and happy. Everyone was excited to be there and there was so much to see and do. It bound our family even closer. We will always cherish those memories together.
