We're Going!

I just found out two weeks ago that MIL and FIL are treating all of my family (dh, me, four children: 13,10, 4 and 1) and themselves to a trip to WDW over Thanksgiving week. I have read a re-read all of the posts on this site and want to tell you all how much I feel better prepared because of the info here.

We will be staying off-site at two large condos, because PIL's Hawaii condo traded very well. They have bought us 5 day Park-hopper plus tickets and we are going to spend Thanksgiving dinner a Medieval Times. I truly can't wait.

I just wanted to post this and join in all the fun.

There are a lot of seasoned Disney World travelers here who absolutely LOVE to share their wealth of knowledge about the happiest place on earth!!!

DH grew up in Florida and has been to WDW hundreds of times. I lived in Jacksonville, FL and went a lot before my divorce in 1995. After that, I have only been once in 1997 with my now inlaws when I was dating DH. Since then we have moved to Mississippi and haven't been on any vacations that didn't include hanging drywall or re-plumbing the house. I think that after 6 years I deserve a good WDW vacation.

My plans are mostly up in the air right now. I know that we will hit each park (none of us have ever been to AK). If the weather is good we'll hit TL. We'll take the older two children to DQ. The tickets are the "Stars and Stripes military salute" ones and include everything for 5 days. My Dh is not fond of "Boot Camp Disney" as he refers to his childhood experiences of his father planning every second of time that they spent there. Since we were planning to go anyway in late 2004 or early 2005, we will go with the flow and savor the children's non-stressful schedule. We will probably eat at counter food or in the condo because of the sheer cost of feeding all of us. Although even that is up in the air, as my FIL has mentioned Fantasmic dinner packages and character meals. I do want to take time to tour some of the resorts on site and pick the best one for our next time.

I am also aware that the week we are going will be very crowded. We also have a 2 small children to keep in mind, so I am taking in all that I can and not worrying about what we miss.
