Disney's Armed Forces Salute $99 tickets....

Has anyone purchased these special tickets? I understand that the active duty person receives a complimentary 5 day HP and can purchase up to 5 more tickets for family and friends for $99 (+ tax). The active duty person or spouse can purchase with id but for the friends tickets do they have to go in with the AD person to use the ticket?

Any AD persons here going to Disney and want a new friend :D

We are using these type of passes to go the week of Thanksgiving. They are great and cheap but there are some rules.

The AD member can purchase tickets for only people present when tickets are bought. The WDW CM on the phone explained that this is to keep people from selling the tickets. They register the ticket to you at the time of purchase. I'm assuming (though I didn't ask) much like an AP.

Because the AD member was present (and the friend or family member) at the time of purchase, they do not have to go to the parks at the same time.

You do not have to use the ticket the day it is bought, but it expires entirely on December 19, 2003. Any unused days expire on this date.

Activated National Guard or Reserve (or their spouse) must show a copy their activation orders.

Spouse may buy the tickets, but only to a family total of 5. If there is no spouse, children may not buy tickets under this deal.

If you need more tickets and have reached your maximum of 5, ITT/MWR in Orlando 's small naval station can sell the same ticket (5 day perk hopper plus) 7 days a week to DOD/Retired or any dependant for $248.50(Adult). They a friendly and nice and can be reached at (407) 855-0116 or e-mail at MWRORL@aol.com

WDW has an information number for this deal but to get past the pre-recorded stuff and wait for a real person took about 10 minutes. The number is (407) 939-7424.

I can't think of anything more but can answer most questions, as I have looked into this extensively.

Ok I understand..

If I know someone who will get these for me we would have to go to the park together in order to purchase. Can you get these at Guest relations at DtD? I know someone in Orlando who is a friend who has agreed to get tickets for me but I thought he could purchase up front and then give to me when we arrive. If he goes to the MWR and purchase woulddn't we have to show ID when we go thru gates?

I asked and the CM said "yes, based on availability". I'm not quite sure what this means, but I took it as a yes.

Anytime a AD military member (DOD/Retired or dependant) purchases a ITT/MWR ticket, their presence is required at admission. They also say that they require at least a third of the party to hold some kind of military ID. I have found that while they don't enforce this last rule, the first seems to be strictly enforced.

I'm sure you are aware that the $99 deal is only available at WDW ticketing and not through ITT/MWR.

Hi, quick question...does it have to be ACTIVE military who gets these benefits, or can it be any and all military? My brother was in the Army for about 5 years and called it quits a few years ago, but I was wondering if this offer would extend to him too...he traveled the world to help our country and our allies, too...:D

OOPS I quoted the wrong post! iluvwdw:
Nope this wouldn't apply to him! It only applys to active, retired or 100% disable veterans. My DH and Dad are veterans but don't qualify for this. Dad is a vietnam veteran with 25% disablity from VA and doesn't qualify, oh well. Sorry!

Thanks for the info...it really wasn't clear, all it said was that they need to show their active Military ID. My brother STILL has military ID (with all benefits and everything)...so I am not sure if it applies to him. I will let him check it out. THANKS!

I was told by the CM on the phone that even disabled retirees were not eligible. For the current $99 armed forces salute, it is limited to active duty military, activated reserves, and their spouses. My FIL wanted to buy our tickets (he is 90% disabled retiree), but they said "No". They also said that my children couldn't purchase them even though my ex has no spouse. This is why we are going at Thankgiving so my ex can come down and help us out.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news to those who wanted to do this.

BTW, There is a similiar event ticket being sold to the same criteria of AD military at Universal for $49 until the 19th of December.

Thanks for the info everyone...it would be nice if EVERYONE who worked in the military at one time or another could be rewarded, not just those who were Active right now! Those people sacrificed a lot to fight for our country, too!!! :dazed
