Is it difficult to park hop with kids?

Now that I have all my PS confirmed and I know which parks I will be in on each day, I'm thinking that I may have a hard time getting my dd to move on from one park to the next. :hmmm I have allowed more time at the MK than any other of course but I also want to do partial days at AK & Epcot and the rest of our time at MGM. Does any else have problems with this?

We don't any longer. Our kids are 6 and 12. We make it a game - where are we going next, how quickly we can get there, etc. One day, we managed all the parades then Illuminations at all four parks. That was a lot of fun (and tiring!)

I found it to be hard on our last two trips only because our youngest was 16 months , then 1 and 1/2 . By the time we were ready to "hop" he was ready for his nap.
So our parking hoping was limited to one park in the moring and one much later in the day to evening.
This time around he'll be 3, we'll see what happens.

Have Fun!!!

park hopping

we found that by leaving the car at one park we could park hop without a problem,

no traffic jams between parks.
we found the monorail great for this.

park hopping

I never had a problem with doing this. If you have a problem with this on the first try, maybe try to the alternative (AK or Epcot) in the morning and end your day at MK. It's usually the kid's favorite. Just a suggestion.

we sometimes do half day at AK then go to the MK of the rest of the day.

also Epcot till noon or so and then take the boat to MGM for the rest of the day.

we have a 3 year old and 1 year old.

We've never had problems with this, either. We've been taking our kids to WDW since DS was 2 and DD was 9months. Our kids have always napped in the stollers and we typically stay in the parks all day. When we hop, we just tell them (Epcot for example) "hey, lets go to EPCoT and ride Imagination (or use one of their favorites). We never have any problems hopping! Good Luck!

We've never had a problem although are kids are little older than those of some of the rest of you (now ages 7 and 9). We do have a 17 month old who has not gone yet but I am sure would slow down some of our hopping. The kids think it's neat. My kids actually think riding the bus is a Disney event. And the monorail... it rocks for them (and me too actually).

It sounds as if many DC'ers park hop. I do not plan on hopping. I have a park scheduled for each day figuring that it will take an entire day to see as much as we can. I also don't think my kids will understand leaving one park when we haven't done everything there. Will we be missing out on anything? What advantages are there to park hopping?

Thanks.

For us, we park hop when we are pretty much done for the day in one park and really want to try something in another park. Or, like our CRT reservation, MUST be in one park for a meal and want to be in another park for the day ( you don't mess around with CRT)

We get fried by spending one entire day in one park alone, and welcome the change of pace, however.

We park hop with our 2 and 6 yearold, and have no problem. The little one gets so tuckered out she falls asleep in her stroller. I agree with parking the car ,and taking advantage of Disney's transportation. As long as you don't mind folding and unfolding the stroller a few times.Keep that in mind when deciding what to take with you for the day, because you will have to remove it from the stroller before folding it. ;)

We have a couple of reasons for park hopping. First we usually go to the park that has extra magic hour (early entry) in the morning. We are able to ride many of the more popular rides before the crowds hit. Later in the day, the park with EE tends to get VERY crowded so we hop to a less crowded park and take advantage of the fact that the crowds are all at the OTHER park. We also like to park hop because by around lunchtime, our feet are hurting, the kids are whining, we just all need a break. We leave whatever park we are at and head back to the resort for a swim and a little break from the action. Then we head to a different park for the afternoon, and possibly a third park for the evening. I try to set up a very flexible plan of where we will be each day...depending on our PSs...but we have also been known to scrap our PSs and just go where the mood strikes! Keeps things interesting! :) (and heaven knows it is hard enough to keep the attention of a 13 year old boy at time)

We also do lots of hopping and it is a game for our DF as well! Our 5 yr old likes to go to all the different parks. His plan for this trip is to go on all his favorite attractions on the first day. TT, TOT, SM, and BS....lots of hopping!!:D :D I hope his 19mth old DB is as keen to the whole thing!!:) :)

Oh, I hear ya about the items you pack in your stroller! We had a rental car in August but one day, I decided to come up with this bright idea of taking the bus to another park, so we didn't have to go through parking again! Well, not only did we have to wait about a half hour for the bus to come, my hubby had such a hard time having to take everything out and carry everything AND fold the stroller and carry that on the bus, too! But we had lots of stuff...HUGE cooler filled with about 20 cans/bottles of soda/water, snacks, water fan mist thingies, juice boxes for our 22 month old and fruit......PLUS the diaper bag, cam corder and all of my shopping bags!!! Oh, it was rough! Hubby was sooo annoyed with me that I wanted to take the bus! The car would have been SOOOO MUCH easier! Luckily in December, it won't be so hot so we won't need to lug that huge cooler around with us!!! ;) :D

Yeah we packed a small cooler bag,and I carried a backpack. We sent all big gifts back to ther resort. Our cooler had frozen waters and juice boxes also.:laugh We didn't really have that long of a wait for busses though. We also took the Monorail, and Ferries. We used every mode of transportation. We even rented a golf cart at our resort(Ft Wilderness)thus having to fold the stroller to take along in that also.
