New Years Eve

My family and I are going to be at DW for New Years Eve this year. I need some advice on what is the best thing to do, the best park to go to that day, the best place to be at midnight, the best place to eat dinner that night, etc. This is our first time to be at DW for New Years Eve, so do they do anything special that we should know about. We are staying at the Dolphin.

We are very excited, but want to make sure we do it right. Thanks for any advice. :D

Welcome to Disney Central,Rosieglow. This year is also the first year that I'm going to be at WDW for New Year's Eve myself. I plan to be at Epcot because that is my favorite park. In my opinion, the best restaurant at Epcot is the Biergarten in the German pavilion. I will probably eat there that night.

We were there for NYE last year and are returning this year. Last year we started out at MGM then around 4:30pm headed to Epcot(we had PS at Teppanyaki), lots of people and they hand out hats and noise makers! It was crazy and then it poured! After our meal we walked in ankle high water to boat and back to BWV. This year we made ps at Brown Derby and will be there for the night. One caution, if a park gets to capacity, you can't enter even if you are resort guest or have a ps. This really only happens at MK, but it did happen last NYE and happened to me once on christmas day. If you want to be a MK, start the day there and be prepared to stay. Be prepared to be with alot of people everywhere..but have fun!

Hi and welcome!! My DH and I were down for nye a few years ago!! We spent the evening at EPCOT! What a blast we had! We just walked around world showcase (had a beer in almost every counrty:dazed ) One of our favorite places ended up to be Italy-they had this huge party and everyone was dancing and having a ball!! At the end of the night, everyone was heading out and we ducked into Mexico for a little snack. When we came out there was hardly anyone around. What a perfect way to end the night! ........Walking along EPCOT all by ourselves!! Whahooo!! Happy New Year!!!

We will be staying at the Dolphin over NYE as well this year. We will be the couple chasing after a two year old screaming "No Belle, No Belle". For NYE we plan to go to the AK then eat dinner at 1900 Park Fare and go back to Epcot to watch the fireworks. We decided a dinner outside of the parks may be a good idea to get a break from the crowds. If for some reason Epcot is full, we will just watch the fireworks from our resort.

Almost forgot...
Rosie, if you need a PS for NYE, you may want to do it soon. I booked mine last week and only had two options for dinner time.
:heart :)

Hello Rosieglow.... My advise is do not go to Magic Kingdom... I went 2 years ago and at Midnight.... all you could do was Stand and look straight up for the fireworks.... :devil Not pleasent... :devil I mean you really could not move.... :) the next year we went to Epcot... and it was great.... and if you are going to ps a place to eat you really should hurry.... I have not been to MGM on NYE or AK I hope this helps :p :) Judy

Welcome to DC! The parks are going to be super packed! If you are going to do it, go early and plan on staying straight through.

My advice is to New Year's at Pleasure Island! This is only if you don't plan on having your children along, if you have kids. You have to purchase your tickets in November, you must be 21, and you will have one of the most memorable New Year's of your life!! :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a great place to eat at each park? We want to make our PS this week.

My biggest suggestion is to do a fantasmic dinner package at MGM due to the large crowds. This way you are guaranteed a chance to see Fantasmic and you don't have to wait in such a long line. Plus it doesn't cost any extra. You just have to hold it with a credit card.
If you like bufffets I suggest the Hollywood and Vine.

We were there last New Years Eve and went to Epcot. They had a special buffet called the Rock n Roll New Years Eve. It was fantastic! The entertainment was lively and as it rained no I mean stormed something awful we were so gald to be inside a huge building.
If you go to MGM definitely do the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We did it last week at H&V and it was scrumptious and the show was the best thing ever!

The buffet was in World Showcase in a huge pavillion back behind England or Canada. I had a PS for it. I found out about it on a web site. When I first called the CM didn't know what I was talking about but she asked some questions and came back and I made the PS. It evidently wasn't a big secret because they were turning people away right and left that night because all the PS were taken. I would call and ask a CM if they had made plans for a NYEve buffet like the Rock n Roll one they had last year! Hope they do because it was fun!
