New "Wishes" Fireworks Show is Spectacular

The new "Wishes" fireworks show at MK is really fabulous. There are lots of neat special effects that make the show much, much better than the old Fantasy in the Sky fireworks.

An illuminated Tinker Bell "flying" down from the castle is one of the highlights, as is the castle turning into the Sorcerer's hat thanks to some really clever lighting effects.

We took out-of-town guests to MK for the day and were just coming out of the Crystal Palace when Wishes was about to start, so we really didn't have time to jockey for a good viewing area. The view was fine from in front of the CP, but the downside was you really couldn't understand much of the narration. Even so, the fireworks alone were quite spectacular.

At last MK has a closing fireworks show that rivals Illuminations.

I thought it was great from what I could see of it! It was so packed you couldn't get near main street. We were in front of Tony's Town Square and there was a tree in front of us. I did see Tinkerbell and she was so much easier to see than in the other show! I couldn't really understand the narration, I could tell it was Jiminy Cricket! The fireworks themselves were beautiful and I was proud to have been in the park the first time the show went on!

From what I have read, at the moment they are planning on showing it every night! Hooray!! It was such a horror show trying to get out of MK when they only showed the fireworks once or twice a week. I hope they continue showing it every night...at least till I can get there again!

I read a newspaper article about it in last weeks travel section, they said it was amazing too! I am dieing to see this show! In the article they said that Wishes was 4 times the size of FITS! They launch fireworks from 11 different parts of the park! They even use those ground level fireworks that look like huge fountains shooting n the air. Im so envious that you got to see it the first night LRTJS! It must of been a great show!

It sounds really wonderful.

Quick question ~ is the walkway to Contemporary open and are the ferry's running during the show? I only ask cause during MVMCP last year we were not allowed to walk back to our hotel cause the fireworks were being launched in a place where we could be hit by debris on the walkway. And they closed them 15 mins before the fireworks even started cause we were trying to get the sleeping little one back to the room before the big booms came but was stopped and had to sit outside MK until they were over with.

They are not currently doing the fireworks show every night. For example, there were performances of Wishes on Monday and Wednesday, but none on Tuesday or Thursday because MK closed earlier on those days.

I can't wait to visit DW again...I am really looking forward to seeing the new firework show. Our son, Chris, will really be amazed that the castle turns into the Sorcerer's hat as the Sorcerer Mickey is his favorite. I love Jiminy Cricket so to have him perform the narration would be wonderful. Do you think this production of Magic will go on for a couple of years? stacey

That's awesome! I'm really excited to see it now...especially since going in the off-season means I rarely get to see fireworks...period. :hmmm
