I have never done this and am curious how it works. Do you pay for each sample or an extra one time fee? What were the prices like last year, do they vary from food to food?

Sandi,
You pay for each sample. They usually range for 1-4 dollars. If you ever get a chance (your kinda close aren't you) it's a wonderful festival. We always try to plan our Nov get aways around it. They have cool concerts at the American Pavillion too. This year it's Eat to the Beat! Concert series with evening performances by popular entertainers on the America Gardens stage at no additional cost. Park admission is required. 5:45, 7:00 & 8:15 p.m. Oct. 18 - 22: Sister Sledge Oct. 23 - 27: The Spinners Oct. 28 - Nov. 1: Three Dog Night Nov. 2 - 6: The 5th Dimension Nov. 7 - 11: Chic featuring Nile Rodgers Nov. 12 - 16: Chubby Checker & the Wildcats Many of us are having a meet on the 15th of November at 5:45 Chubby Checker concert. OMG, we just got back and it was incredible! The sun was warm, the strolling grand, and the food was wuuunerful! We could NOT get enough. We would go right at 11, and pick our way through the countries. We tried:
GREECE - Honey Baklava, Greek Salad, Souvlaki with Tzatziki Sauce, Spanakopita I'm part Greek and kind of picky about my Baklava since it's like the only thing I can cook that my Yiayia taught me. It was *magnificent* Not too gooey, just the right spicy, and not dense, like it had been sitting in syrup for days. Very yummy. I didn't care for the Souvlaki since I prefer lamb instead of beef. The Greek Salad was very refreshing after all the heavies we'd been eating. The Spanakopita was really good, too. ITALY - Sicilian Pizza This was wicked good with the yeasty taste in the bread which I love. DD loved it too. It was a sizeable piece for the money. JAPAN -Tuna Tataki I had tuna sushi?? I thought there was no fish in it?? It was incredible. I got it because I thought it was like a California roll and I'm addicted to Wasabi sauce and now I find I ate raw tuna??? LOLOL! MOROCCO and MEDITERRANEAN Tasting: Vegetable Couscous, Lemon Chicken, Mmmmmmm.... this was sooooooo good!!! Wine and Beer: Casablanca I did not care for this. Wished I had gone back to the Irish stand and got some Irish Creme. LOL! FRANCE Tasting: Creme Brulee OMG, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I also ate it while talking to one of the CM's about France in french and I kind of drifted off. It was a real mental warp, new kind of Disney magic. UK - Flourless Chocolate Cake Walk, don't run, and get some. It's like a smooth, heavenly, dark chocolate brownie. We went back again... and again... and again... CANADA- Pan seared salmon with oney maple glaze We didn't try this, but just wanted to say how much it smelled! it seemed to be the only thing at the festival that kind of turned us off. SOUTHEAST ASIA- Pulled Chicken with Chilli and Lime I didn't try this, but a friend of mine did and loved it. Every time I went back, there was a wicked long line so we didn't get any. We also went to the Honey stand, and I tried honey sticks. Couldn't get the dang things opened, it was a riot. I also tried the Bubble QQ Tea in China for the first time and loved the drink, but the tapioca in it reminded me of fish eyeballs! LOL! felt like I was on Fear Factor! hehehee!

My mother and I just returned from Epcot on Saturday(Oct.25),and honestly,I think the value of the food is not so good. We made a point of going up to each booth to see what the portion sizes were and were appalled to see the tiny size of what you got when you considered how much you paid for it. You could easily spend upwards of 30 dollars and not get half as much food as at a buffet for half the price.

Then I'm glad I opened my mouth... (ha ha, get it, opened my mouth... *groan*) I'm a horrible cook and therefore a lousy critic, but had loads of fun. I have always wanted to go to the Epcot Festivals and the dates just lucked out for us!
Also, I would like to note that quite often, the drinks were cheaper than the food... ![]()
