Guest of Honor Badge Questions
I've read several things about guest of honor badges, and I have a few questions I hope someone here can answer.
1. What experiences have some had here from wearing these? 2. What are the cost, and does is cost more (and how much) to have a named engraved (we have two uncommmon names in our clan of four) 3. Are the ones from Gifts of a Lifetime the same, and how much more do they cost? 4. Where exactly in the parks are these available? Again, I hope someone can answer these, and thanks in advance! Yzma *looks at countdown and gets all excited*

Hi!
I bought a GOH Badge for my son at the Christmas shop at Downtown Disney. The cost was around $5. Not sure if it costs more to have one custom made. I don't think that it does. The best part of having the badge, was that all the cast members called my son by his name...even the face characters. :)

We got one last trip
We got one for my son last trip. I like to keep an ID on him at all times, especially since he is only 2 and does not speak well enough to tell somebody who Mommy & Daddy are. I have a sticker with my name and cell phone number on the back of his pin.
Anyways - on to your questions.......... You can find the pins at the Christmas store in Downtown Disney for $5 and if they don't have the name you want there, they will make it for you at no extra charge but remember - no non-names (like Mom or Pop-Pop) can be put on the pin. I think there is supposed to also be a place at MGM that sells them, but I cannot remember where it is supposed to be. My son wore his everywhere we went. He was very excited that it had Mickey on it. Cast members came up to him and called him by his name which he thought was funny. They would also tease him about being a "new employee" at the park and did little things to make him feel special - like riding in the front of the Small World boat or extra candy during Trick or Treats or special attention from the Princesses, things like that. Of course, part of it could also be that he is a 2 year old boy with an adorable smile too. ;) I believe that the Gift of a Lifetime sells the same ones for $7.50 plus shipping. You can check on their website.

thanks for your replies! Sounds like a good deal to me! I might go ahead and order from gifts of a lifetime, due to I don't know what day we are going to MGM or DTD. The rest of the family has more patience than I do, though
and is willing to wait....*looks at shipping* 10.77!!!! Nevermind...I'll wait...... does anyone know where the place at MGM is?

I ordered them last summer from Gifts of a lifetime and had them sent with a psotcard from Mickey telling my 2 sons that he was looking forward to their visit and they arrived about 2 weeks before we left. My 2 sons, who were 6 & 3, were so excited and dsaid they felt important because not everybody had badges like theirs, and all of the CMs called them by name and gave them some special attention.

Your idea with the cell phone number and name on the back of your little guys badge is very smart. I wish I had been as smart when my daughter was smaller. I never had the unfortunate experience of losing her (thank God) but that extra bit would have made crowd battle after shows a little more comforting. I was always terrified of getting seperated. (truth is I still am) You should put your idea under travel tips for Moms with little ones. Its truely a great idea. $5 is worth a piece of mind for sure. I may get one anyway. The extra CM attention has to be a blast for the kids.:)

Just returned and I am jumping ahead of my trip report, but a memory that my DD will never forget is Mickey pointing to her from the parade and stating there is one of my specail buddies!! She was so thrilled and surprised that Mickey really did send her the badge! Now if this was a programmed statement then Disney Magic is awesome and if it was Mickey being that observant than that's even better... anyway the badge drew a lot of attention to Brooke and she loved it!!
However, Cinderella did not see the badge??? and asked my DD her name she was so upset... This Cindy was having an off day and you could tell, she really wanted to be somewhere else... I just reminded my DD that she was Mickey's special buddy! That made her smile and I explained that Cindrella meets many children and prob did not recognize her... See the Cinderella in the Parade pointed to Brooke and waved... made Brooke feel very special so when they were face to face, Cinderella did not "remember"... Confused Brooke, but my explanation smoothed it all out... and Belle at story time made up for it!!

As you enter MGM, just ask one of the cast members. They will tell you. I want to say it is a little shop off to the right, but I got really turned around in MGM so my memory is a little vague. But don't hesitate to ask, they will be more than happy to help you. :)

I just ordered 3 from Gifts of a Lifetime - they haven't come yet but I wanted them pre-trip because they are going to be part of our hints to where we are going that morning. I also do the sticker with names, cell phone #'s, etc. on the back just in case. I remember someone had suggested that to me on our last trip almost 2 years ago.

The place in MGM is the last or next to the last store on the right hand side of the street when you enter the front gates. This is just before you turn to head down to TOT. I believe it is called 5&10. It does not cost anymore to have special names engraved. DS and I made a special trip there on our first day to suprise the rest of group with them. It is worth the time and money. Cinderella mouthed "Happy Birthday Mimi!" to my mom during the parade at MK. She had on her birthday button and her name badge!

I think you can get GoH Badges at any park. I remember getting our at Magic Kingdom.
Just ask a CM when you go into the park. Good Luck!! :D Jennifer :)
