Ever had a suprise WDW Vacation???

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has ever suprised their wife/family with a WDW vacation?
I did last year! Boy was it fun. I told the wife that we were going to St. Louis to go Christmas Shopping the day after Thanksgiving. My DW is soooo predictable. She had her nose stuck in a book most of the way to St. Louis. I was able to hit I-55 south and was out of the metroplex without arousing her couriosity. She didn't become any the wiser till we were about 100 miles south of St. Louis. I saw she was starting to pay attention to the green information mileage signs. About 1/2 and hour later she asked where we were going. I pulled out a sheet of paper that had the weather in Orlando for the next week printed on it. I pulled off on a exit ramp, went to the trunk of the car (Yep, I even packed for her!) and retrieved a small gift bag that had our reservations, a card from her boss telling her to have a good time, $700.00 in travalers checks and 2 disposable cameras. I gave the bag and started snapping pictures of her as she read. You know, that is the quietest I have ever heard that woman! We hit Paduca KY before she said "Were really going??? arn't we?"
The whole trip was magical! We really had a great time.

That is so sweet!! I dont think my dh would ever even think of doing something like that. I would love it. I must be honest though...planning for 6-12 months really does add alot of fun for me. I would never say no to a surprise WDW trip though!

What a great story. I have never done a surprise vacation but I have suprised my kids with a day trip. We dropped DW off at a hotel near Orlando for a Home Schooling convention then I surprised the 3 kids with a day trip to MK. We hooked up with DW late that night at EPCOT.

A complete surprise, how fun.

You wouldn't get me past St. Louis though, I would be on to you!!

I would love to have a surprise WDW vacation, however, my hubbie would have a hard time but he could do it if he wanted to. I go through the mail so well, I check each bill carefully, I check the phone bill call by call and go through the credit card bill line by line. He would have to get a new credit card and make all the calls from work, but he could do it.

Good for you Becca!! I hate having inside information. I am always so scared of opening my big mouth and ruining the surprise. Please, never tell me a secret!!

I surprised my kids once. Told them we were going to Old Williamsburg, VA. They didn't get any wiser until we drove into North Carolina. Then we stopped at the first rest stop "to get our bearings". I will always remember, my kids were yelling at me and I told them to go with the flow. They yelled back, "I went with the flow and look where we ended up, in the wrong state!"
Then my wife pulled out the Disney dollars and my son (age 10 at the time) went crazy with happiness. My daughter (age 7 at the time) realized we were going to Disney and frowned and said, "I wanted to go to Old Williamsburg!" Later when we got to WDW, she was glad we fooled them.

we surprised the girls not with the vacation but by staying at the AKL. We let them think right up till we checked in at the AKL last year that we were going to be staying at the CBR. It was so hard keeping it secret.

My DW knows me way too well. Heck I was going to suprise her with MVMCP tickets and she somehow managed to open that one letter before I saw it! The driving part would be easy, I never seem to go the same way to anywhere twice  .

Great job,
-harry

Surprised my DH once (didn't wait until the last minute to tell him, but he only knew for a couple of weeks), and it was great! We stayed at the Disney Institute, learned how to make calzones and truffles, did some wine-tasting, and listened to a WONDERFUL band at PI! I'm sure that helped turn him into a Disney nut like me!

I have tried twice to do a surprise trip for my DD. I end up telling her. I get to excited. One day maybe I'll be able to control my WDW excitement, but I hope not. It's more fun planning it with her.:)

I haven't experienced a surprise trip...but my DH surprised me while watching a WDW show on the Food Channel. We hadn't been back from WDW for even 2 weeks when he said he'd go back in a heartbeat...I said 'do you mean it?' So now we're joining my sister(BDavis932) and her family in March!!! We're so excited!!
I thought it'd be YEARS before we got a chance to go again...kept telling the kids the entire May/June trip to savor the experience, do as much as you can...we won't be back until you're teenagers...so when he said that, he shocked the socks off of me!!

This past Valentine's Day I surprised my hubby with a trip to WDW. I picked him up at work on Friday and told him I had to make a stop before we went home, which would involve me getting on the turnpike. Once on the turnpike, I told him that his valentine card was in the visor (I had the "gold envelope" that reservation info comes in with Happy Valentines Day written on it) He opened it and was very happy we were planning a trip. But being a typical man (sorry guys) he didn't read the dates. He asked when we were going, I said now!! He hadn't noticed our exit was long gone! Then I pointed out the frosty beverage just for him, and I hit play on the CD and voice of George Jones filled the air (his favorite). By this time he was in shock. It was well planned and he was clueless. He couldn't believe I packed, told his boss he wouldn't be in on Saturday, paid full price for a WDW room (something a florida resident tries to avoid) and everyone knew but him. Then we had a great dinner at Boma. It was a great surprise.

OK, while I didn't really surprise my wife with a trip... how's this one?

Back in September of 1996, I was working in radio (like I still do), doing part-time board work. My wife and I had just celebrated our 1st anniversary about a month earlier, and were still in awe of our honeymoon trip to Disney the previous year.

I was sitting in the studio, running some mind-numbing talk program, when our Program Director came into the studio. He said... "Hey, I need a producer. How would you like to go to Disney World in a couple of weeks?"

After I picked my jaw up off the floor I said "**** yes!"

As it turns out, both of our stations were sending morning shows down for WDW's 25th Birthday media kickoff. There were hundreds of media outlets down there, and it was a blast. I had to buy a plane ticket for my wife and pay for her pass, but it was worth it! A weeks' worth of free hotel, food and entertainment, along with some special media-only events made it a trip to remember! It even made up for being up until 2am having fun every day, only to get up at 4am to broadcast!
