Article about Mission Space in Paper

Hi everyone just thought i would share an article that was in the paper this morning about Mission Space.

They are going to begin placing motion sickness bags on the ride. They are doing this for a trial period and are going to be located in various spots on the ride.

Wow i wish i had seen it. I just read it in the paper this morning and thought i would share it. I have heard so many mixed reviews on this ride. My luck i would get sick on it. I don't do well with the motion thing.

They covered this on the local news last night and this am.(I live in Tampa, FL) The news anchors were laughing and saying that to pay all that money to get into the parks, and then need a sick bag wasn't what they wanted! Of course my opinion for them would be, just don't go on that ride! I can't, I know I'd get sick, i get car sick :laugh So even though I"d love to go on it I wont!

Yep, our local news covered it last night also (North Carolina).

Not really a good thing to get reported so widespread (could give many people the wrong impression).

I still think that with all the money they spent on developing the ride that they could figure out some way of letting people who get carsick enjoy the ride without getting sick.

I agree with you mickaholic4077 at Universal Studios on the Jetsons ride you sit in these seats that move but for people who get motion sickness, back problems , pregnant or any other reason why they can't get in the cart , you can sit in carts that don't move. I wish they could do something like that. Of course i have never been on Mission Space and i don't know if something like that would work. I also agree it being in the media gives the wrong impression about the ride for those of us a little erie of the ride

A stationary ride is a good idea, but I think the main point of this ride is the sensations of Gravity and Weightlessness with the Buttons and screens more like a compliment to the ride. Without the Sensations the movie is propably dull and meaningless.

I saw the sick bags on the ride last week on my first ride of MS, and did not think much about them, I thought they were their since it opened. I did get dizzy after the ride, I think more because of managing a 7 & 5 year old, making sure that they hit thier buttons on time, and holding my head up to tring and see them. The next time I rode I only had my 7yr old and I put my head back and only looked straight ahead, and I was fine after the ride.

If you follow the instructions (don't look side to side) you shouldn't get sick. I get disoriented pretty easy and didn't have a problem with MS.

My suggestion is to have some protein after the ride. We carried in beef jerky (no MSG type) cuz this trick seems to work for us (also helps us save on food).

(remember that good news doesn't sell...the news is always looking for something to tear at...)

44" my 5yr old DD is 44.5", needles to say she will not be going back on it anytime soon, I think it was more about the dark ride syndrome.

I agree !! I think that is a mind over matter.. My DH still doesnt really understand why if he didnt get sick on it anyone else would (with his MS he has serious vertigo and motion sickness) but as tigger said following the instructions ..which is what he did. and Like I said ..it could all be in your mind ..i if your thinking about that fact that you are spinning, maybe thats more of what would make you feel sick. .. none of us felt like we were spinning .. we felt like we were bing launched in to space :)

mickaholic... It would lose it's gosto completely... as a matter of fact if you have seen much ads or coverage of MS you have probably seen most of what you would see on the ride... it's the effect that makes this ride so intence... though I don't deal with motion sickness at all... I feel for those who do.... because I believe it is the best ride in the World both WDW and the actual!
