MLK Weekend Crowds?

Hey Girls and Boys!

My DW and I are visiting WDW Sat Jan 17 through Wed Jan 21. When we're not by a fireplace at the Wilderness Lodge we'll be hittin' the parks.

I've heard conflicting 'reports' about crowds at the World over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend ranging from post holiday low to Christmas Day full. I've specifically heard it's a Florida school holiday and thus a popular weekend with local visitors.

When I hear some people say low and some say high I get the impression the answer is... medium?

Should we plan our touring low medium or high attendance?

I have heard HIGH, but I have not been during that time... We went in October and ended up booking over Columbus Day!!:nooo:

It was crowded, but managable. We avoided going to the parks on the actual day... glad we did... they were really crowded, but the rest of the week was managable...

Hope that helps... I am sure someone who has been duing this time will post...

I was at MK and Epcot the Sunday of MLK weekend 2002 and the crowds weren't bad at all. The MLK day itself I went to AK and it was fine;I had no problems doing all that I wanted to do. You should be fine.

while I haven't been to wdw on mlk weekend I can tell you this year pop century is 100% full. so my guess is it will be a moderate crowd.

The children and I were there January 2003. Actually on the Monday off, the crowds were very managable. We park hopped that day. Enter the park about 10:00 am and let around 7 p.m.

We were able to ride everything we wanted to. ;)

I was there 1/17/03 through 1/22/03 and it was very manageable. Stayed in All-Stars and it wasn't bad at all..... We rode everything we wanted and didn't have long waits. The only thing we had trouble with was parade crowds, but that is the norm.

Thanks for the Replies

It sounds like 'manageable' is the operative word. I was in the MK on a crowded Christmas Day 4 years ago and we did fine. Crowds kind of add to the excitement.

We will also be arriving in the late afternoon of Jan. 17th this year. Last year we were there at basically the same time and I would rate the crowds as "low".

We leave this Friday for a week's stay at WDW. I was told by friends to expect low crowds. Is this true? Are the weekends busier even in low times?
