Annual passes question?

I was wondering how you can get an annual pass? Can you get them online or at the disney store? Also I heard from someone that once you get the pass it expires a year from that date. So if we got one in lets say may 04 it wouldnt expire until may 05?

We have been thinking that since we are either going in april/may of 04 or in Dec 04 and we know that we will be going back the following year around the same time it might be worth it to and get the annual pass? Any thoughts?

Thanks

:)

The first time you buy an AP, it isn't activated until until you go to the parks and activate it. Then you have a year from that date. They just changed the rules for when you buy again, and I am not sure exactly. But I am sure someone will answer soon who knows all the info you are looking for! (We are hoping to buy for the first time this year also :) )

Wed, do you have a Disney Card? Your best time to get one would be today, before the Disney Club expires. You get a discount on the cards.

Crystals' right, it is good for one full year from time of activation. If you choose to renew, the next AP's are good from your 'anniversary date.' You can also choose to purchase other vouchers, which then becomes active when you activate them and good for a full year after that, which is what we are going to do as we don't have a trip planned at the moment.

Oh that makes me sad to say... :(

Yes, I definitely think it would be good for you to purchase AP's, especially if you can squeeze that 3rd trip in next May before they expire. You also have to activate them at particular locations at Disney, so unless you can get them today as MM suggested, I would just wait until I got there.

WED, it is definitely worth it for you to get APs...especially if you have 3 trips coming up! And the AP room discounts are great! You can go to your local Disney Store to buy the voucher, and then when you get to Disney, you activate it. The BEST place to activate it with no line, is DOWNTOWN DISNEY, Guest Relations. Our first night there, we were hanging out at DTD and just activated them that night so we were ready bright and early the next morning for the parks!

:D

I just bought an AP in November because I am going back in May. My dad figured that between the two trips I will be coming out ahead. Although, now it is "burning a hole in my pocket!"

LOL - yes, you will need an ID number before you can log into the Passholder section at disney.com... which means activation first. :D

I also recommend booking through a Disney Certified travel agency that specializes in discounts and such (like Mouseketrips) If Mickey knows you're an AP holder and knows there's an AP discount coming down the line, he can jump on the horn as soon as it's announced and procure the discount for you. At least he did for me, and he had to play Reservation Roulette until he got the entire week on one reservation. What a nightmare!, but he did it. :D :D :D (ok, I'll stop applauding Mickey. :D )

Okay, I have a question now. :) It says everywhere I have read that you need an activated pass when you check into your resort. I have heard some CMs ask for it at check in and some don't. Since I wouldn't plan on activating it until AFTER checking in, will I have a problem? Is anyone familiar with what I am referring to? Any help would be most welcome. (I tend to be a terrible worrier.

Well, technically, you do need an activated pass. I was asked for one the very first time we checked into the All Stars by a new CM. I pulled out the voucher and the lady training her told her 'not to worry about it, even though that's what is taught in training" or something to that effect.

The only other time I've been asked was at AKL once, and in the process of pulling it out, the man said it didn't matter, he just wanted to make sure I had one.

I know many many people who have checked in and not been asked, or like me, have produced the voucher and checked in without issue.

Technically, you are supposed to check in with activated passes, but I've never heard of anyone being turned away with vouchers.

Ok Im a little confused. If I buy the pass now I have to take the certificate and have it activated while Im down there. How can I get the AP discounts for the the room then? Is there a # on the paperwork that I can use.
Also 1 more thing does this mean that we will have 2 cards one for the parks and the other for the room?

I was thinking that since we will be driving down I can just hit DTD (since someone said that is a good place to activate the passes) then go and check into the hotel.
