WDW Parks Packed Full!!

Just an interesing side note, I saw on the yahoo finance message boards and it was reported on the NBC channel 2 (WESH) in Orlando that this past week WDW Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom were turning people away as it was full to capacity, MGM and EPCOT were not closed but were pretty full. The parking lot was filled by 9:45am. I assume this is all due to holiday travel.

well the magic kingdom closed earlier this week at 9:45 am, I mean like phase 4 no one else is getting in. yesterday epcot went to phase 3 no one gets in other then wdw resort guests, I went to MGM walked around and said this is crazy and left. when I left the MGM lot was 90+% full. as for when I went to epcot on christmas day, I got to park in the wonder section of the lot, for those of you wh aren't familiar with that area its about 3/4 to 1 mile from the entrance of the park the farthest parking section away. you could tell they didn't use it very often though becuase the tram operators weren't sure what they were doing.

This is great for Disney. I imagine it is like this every year. I had a friend who went during this time a few years ago and she said never again. She goes often and said she had never seen so many people. I bet it is the same today. I'd love to spend New Years at Disney (uh, without the crowds:D ).

This is incredible!! Not that I would want to be there with that many people but I have never heard of such crowds before. Does it ever get that full during any other time?

I have been there in Novemeber 1999, 2001,2002, 2003 and September 2000 and it was never close to closing. Our family books our vacation around Super Soap Weekend. SSW usually packs 30,000+ in MGM for that weekend.

We have found November to be a pretty "Quiet" month and nice weather to vacation. I do want to be there for Xmas and New Years sometime, even if it is packed.

We were there on July 4th a few years ago and the MK closed. Of course if you're an on-site guest you can still get in, but who would want to? We spent the day at the pool and the next day was surprisingly quiet in the parks. Go figure.:dazed

Good news for some...

This sounds 'wonderful' for the Disney company and 'dreadful' WDW visitors. Is this the same company that's reducing the operating hours at Epcot's Wonders of Life beginning next week?

When the parks unexpectedly get packed, do they ever extend the operating hours?

My Brother in law and Sister in law took my nephew to MK for the 1st time on Monday 12/29. They said they could not believe how packed everything was. They said the shortest line they saw was 90 mins long, and it was a madhouse at the areas to get fastpass.

I am so happy for WDW to have such great crowds, but I am not one those who would want to be in WDW with wall-to-wall people. It would be lovely to spend the holiday at my favorite place, but I just can't see paying all that money and being crammed in. Not my cup of tea. I will have to just look at the pictures, see the TV, and read the trip reports. I would not be able to enjoy myself there. I'm just not that hard core .

I spoke to my DD last night and thought I would share what she told me about Epcot on New Years Eve. As many of you might remember, she is a CM in the college program (at least for a few more days). She said the park was soooo full and everyone got party horns when they came in. The noise level was so high, she couldn't even hear herself think when 'on stage'. The radio traffic was nonstop and were reporting a gridlock in Mexico as she was talking to me. This was at about 8pm, so I am sure it only escalated from there. It sounded like so much fun. :D :laugh :D :laugh Had to be a lot of people to stop the flow of traffic through the world. I think she mentioned something about 67,000 people?? :dazed
