San Angel Inn Good Place For Illuminations??

I was told that there is a cantina at San Angel Inn where you can get a table by the water for a great view of Illuminations. Does anyone know if this is true?? I only found San Angel Inn listed and it didnt say anything about a cantina..is it one in the same? Also..if this is a good place to see Illuminations..what time should I try to get a PS for? Or is this somewhere that you can just go, order a drink and sit down at a table and wait?

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me...I havent been able to find anything in my guidebooks that will answer my questions!

Thanks!!!!

The cantina is the outdoor fast food place at the Mexican pavilion. I imagine you would have to get there pretty early to snag a table for Illuminations(no priority seats there).

Okay..this makes more sense to me now. So, is it true that there are tables in the cantina that are on the water?
Also..if we eat dinner in the full service restaurant there, is there a place which would be good viewing for Illuminations?

If not, where would a good place be? I don't really relish the idea of holding down a slab of concrete for an hour/half..but, will if I have to.

Yes, definitely get there early. It is a great spot! I think the exact name of the place is called CANTINA DE SAN ANGEL.

The full service restaurant, the San Angel Inn, is located inside the Mexican Pyramid. So, no viewing of Illuminations. If you snag a good table at the Cantina (situated outside, across from the Pyramid) be prepared to have people trying to sit with you at your table or standing in front of you. You must be firm that you don't want to "share". I know that doesn't sound very friendly, but it will happen.

We sat there years ago to watch Illuminations - we did end up sharing our small table with another couple but it was ok! LOL The place was jammed - keep ordering margaritas, then nobody will kick you out

One couple is fine. We had a family of five trying to squeeze in with us. While we were still eating, no less!

We snagged two tables about 45 min before Illuminations started when we were there in Sept. It is a great place to see it. My sister was in the CP there working in Epcot last fall and said that The Cantina was one of the best places to view from. We enjoyed it, but it definitely got crowded. We planned it so that we were still munching on food from the Cantina until the show started. We got there and watched people just camp out for the next 45 minutes at tables with no food while people who had trays of food tried to find a place to sit and eat. I think it is kind of rude to occupy a table that long before the show and not really be using it for its real purpose of eating. If they had finished 15 minutes before the show, it would have been okay, but almost an hour is ridiculous.

Okay, stepping off the soap box.
