Oldest Ride @ WDW

I'm really curious. Does anyone know what the oldest ride at WDW is. I know its gotta be in the Magic Kingdom. But its probably more than one rides that were all there when Disney opened. Any ideas?

I'm just guessing, but I would think that "Dumbo" and the "Teacups" would be right up there. When I was a little girl "Disney's Wonderful World of Colour" used to sometimes take you on a tour of Disneyland. It WAS magical. My chances of getting there were about the same as getting to Mars. I seem to remember the Jungle Cruise always being shown too.

I'll guess Small World and Carousel of Progress since they were at least conceived back in the World's Fair well before WDW opened. I realize they are not the originals, but the idea was from way back there.

ok I remember reading or hearing that the *oldest* ride at WDW is cinderella's carousel, but old as in .. It was old before they brought it to WDW and not old as in the first open attraction / ride.

I think Jungle Cruise must win as they'd have to do all the excavation for that very early on in the WDW construction process. (Piling up the land to build the Castle on was problaby THE first thing done, but the Castle isn't a ride so can't count.) About half of the current MK rides must have been there when the park opened, I think. As for the idea for the rides, many came from Disneyland, and the World's Fair inspired rides.

Can't be Space Mountain because I think I remember when that opened.

I agree with Matto and Spider that the Carousel of Progress and Small World are probably 2 of the oldest rides - at least in terms of when the ideas for the were conceived.

Then again, didn't Disneyland open first?

When we went in Feb 1973... I remember Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, Riverboat, Teacups, Dumbo, 20,000 Leagues, IASW, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Cinderella's Carousel and Tomorrowland Speedway. I know there were others, but I can't remember all of them... mind of a 6-year-old... go figure! ;)

I can’t guarantee that all the dates on this list are correct. I didn’t do the research. I just copied it from another web site. I am sure there are some discrepancies.
