two way radios at WDW?
We leave on Friday for WDW and are planning on bringing our two way radios. We have children of varying ages and will probably split up at times. Does WDW allow two way radios? We thought it a good way to stay in touch.

You can use them but just from our experience - they were totally worthless! So many other people were using them that it was nearly impossible to decipher who was who. We decided not to bring them on this trip - we have free cell to cell so we're just doing that.

I had that same question ...I was wondering though...did the ones you used have several different channels? I didnt know if that would help matters out at all. I may have to get my hubby a new cell phone to use just while we are there if the two ways wont work!

I've seen many people try to use them however they don't work very well. one thing to note is disney is going to be getting rid of alot of there 2 way radio's there cast memebers use and replace them with nextels. they have added a nextel cell phone tower just east of the epcot parking lot. ( a regular tower nothing disney about it) I recomend cell phones or 2 way radios but go for something more like a CB radio as people don't use that type down here, they cell radio's similar to these at stores such as radio shack and lowes are the ones that come to mind. I don't know how much of a price difference there is. also be advised twoway radio communications are the worst at the TTC. no clue why but its almost impossible to call anyone from there event with a powerful radio.

Having FRS radios like the ones described below is a must. They really do make a difference.

We used our 2 way radios at two different parks this past March and we had no problem using them. I don't know if it was the channel we were on or what but they worked fine and had an okay reception.

We used our Motorola two way radios on our trip to WDW last december and had no problem whatsoever, as a matter of fact, they worked a lot better that I expected since I have heard several negative comments regarding interference and other people using the same channel, etc.
Ciao, Alfredo :)

We use to use the Motorola Talkabouts and they worked just fine. A few years ago we traded in our regular cell phones and switched to Nextel. What a godsend, for us anyway! We love them and they work great down in WDW! The calls are private and they worked just about everywhere, I can't think of any incidents where they did not work. Just MHO!:)
