This even made the TV news here in Birmingham. They said that the reason they were closing it was that people prefered the Pixar movies over animation. It is a huge loss for everyone who is a fan of Disney cartoons.

1. The animation tour w/out animators really using the place needs to be closed down. The movie is cute, but really isn't an attraction in itself. The live animator drawing a cartoon and doing a Q&A is nice, but, too, doesn't seem worth it to have it running on its own (if they haven't fired the animator... ;) ). Perhaps they could run the movie and animator Q&A two times a day to make it viable???
2. I hope that the reason the Florida place is closed down is do to technological advancements. I think the majority of stuff Disney has been turning out lately (although I DID like Lilo & Stitch up until the ending sequence when it just got too stupid) is junk. The commercials for Teachers Pet are just painful, for crying out loud! Yikes. They need to go back to doing quality projects -- turning out just a few GOOD movies over the years, not tons of junk ones and DVD releases etc. 3. The only animation tour I got to see something being done for was The Emperor's New Groove. Sigh. Thanks for reminding me to be jealous of you Geeman, lol!! :)

Pixar shouldn't be considered the villian. im(not usually)ho, computer animation isn't the main reason for the success of their movies, it's the content. Is there a better 'no dialog scene over a song' than "When she loved me" from TS2? Now that's a quality sequel! (and it made tons of money)
btw, when the spell is broken in ahem, Dreamworks 'Shrek' SHREK: Fiona? Fiona. Are you all right? PRINCESS FIONA: Well, yes. But I-- I don't understand. I'm supposed to be beautiful. SHREK: But you are beautiful. DONKEY: I was hoping this would be a happy ending. - it's great moment in animated feature film... that was conceived in a human mind and generated with the help of a computer. |
