Some construction pix

For folks that are interested in this kind of thing (including myself), I took some snaps of the construction that was going on at EPCOT and AK.

Always nice to see how the work is progressing...wouldn't it be cool if folks going to WDW over the next year or so came back with pix of the construction, and then we'd have a kind of ride timeline, right from the beginning...would be something to show the kids in the future ("Aye son, I remember when all this was green fields...and now it's a SooperDooper Expedition Everest!":D

This one is of what I presume will be the concrete base of the main ride at the upcoming Expedition Everest ride at AK. The blue bridge I think is just a works vehicles access bridge. Wouldn't you just love to get your hands on blueprints for this....??;)

There were many diggers and workers on site when we saw it.

The pic was taken from the lower seating area at the Flame Tree BBQ.

This is slightly to the left of the previous picture. It looks like it will be the entrance / exit to the ride (and undoubtedly contain a shop "Disney's Expedition: Everest" T-shirts;) )

Just to the left of this picture is the entrance to Kali River Rapids, so it looks like the entrance to E:E will be next to it, judging by the placement of the E:E building.

Note that the original river theming is still in place on the steps leading to the river.

Moving on to a different park...this one is taken from Germany in EPCOT's World Showcase, looking across the lake toward Canada.

Some very large metal girder components were being hauled into position behind here...I believe this to be the construction for the new "Soarin' Over California" attraction in The Land. Rumour (?) has it that the entrance / wait area to this new ride will replace the "Food Rocks!" show in The Land pavilion (which is why my CeltiaCat and I caught the show on the last trip, as we didn't know when it was due to close.

what great pics! Thanks!

Also I think Cowboy Mickey has a great idea about the "work in progress" pictures. Anyone?

Hey Cowboy that is exactly where I took my pictures of Everest last October. The entrance pavillion was not up yet at all but there were a lot of workers in that area. I can tell there has been some progress on the main building since I posted my picture. It is fun to see it going up. I hope someone else takes some pictures as it continues. DW usually keeps construction under wraps as MS and TT so this is different to be able to see a "work of art in progress"
