Crowds in May vs October

Ok, have been to WDW usually in the Fall, never in the Spring. Wondering if the crowds are about the same or worse in the middle of May. So use to just about walking on the rides in the Fall. We're hoping to miss the huge crowds by returning the weekend before Memorial Day. Waiting is no big deal, just don't want to have to wait in lines more than we can stand.

I have never been in May, but looked up the crowd levels for you in the Passporter. According to them it's "regular season". The crowd level in the first weeks of May look more promising than the last two. If you are used to walking on rides with no wait, you are in for a "different" kind of WDW. It's hardly unmanageable, but defiantely not "walk-on" status. Hope I helped a little...

Those are the only 2 times I have been to WDW--in May and also in the Fall, so hopefully I can help! :D

Our first trip was in May of 2000, and it was manageable. Kinda crowded, decent-sized lines for most big attractions (y'know, about half an hour to an hour at most). Nothing too horrible. But then we went in September, and WOW! was it different! No lines. Dead. Seriously. The Polynesian was deserted, and we walked onto every ride the entire week!

Now, that was in 2002, when attendance was way down. We returned in September of last year, and it was starting to look more like May attendance. About 75% of things had a wait of more than 30 minutes.

Since attendance has shot back up within the last year, I'm sure crowd levels vary. But in my experience, Fall was certainly better than May.

We were pondering Sept or May. Figured May would be better for our son to get back into the swing of school than Sept (starting a new school yr). We leaving the 12th and returning the 22nd of May. Hopefully returning a week before Memorial Day, we'll miss those huge crowds.

I looked in the Unofficial Guide to WDW and it looks like we may miss some of the mess. We also wanted to go when it was warmer so we could experience the water parks too. Hubby and I aren't really waterpark people, but our son loves them...thanks to Nanny and PaPa:)

Also, booked using the Visa promotion "Kids stay/play free", I thought it might be a little more crowded than usual. Hopefully we picked the right week to go.

Fingers crossed!!

At least you'll be there during the International Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, which features great rock groups from the 60's & 70's.

We've been there the past 2 years in May. Both times during the Memorial Day holiday.
It is always busy, but with fastpass we never waited more then 20 minutes for an attraction.

Yeh, I am excited about the Flower Show. I can only imagine how beautiful it's going to be. Also, I read that Star Wars weekend will be happening while we are there too. Can't beat either:)

I am hoping to avoid Fast Pass by going earlier in May. Whelp, nothing we can do now, right. We'll deal with what ever comes our way. As long as we are having fun in the best place on earth.

Thanks,
Kim
