July 4th crowds

My DW and I are in the early stages of planning a return trip to WDW during July 4, 2005. I was wondering what the crowds are like in the days before and after the 4th, and on it also (I understand it's packed). Ultimately, I would like to plan the trip to be there long enough to catch some of the off-holiday crowds to enjoy the parks a little bit better. I hope planning now will be early enough to book a room. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

P.S. I have DisneyAnne to thank for helping me find my way back to DC after "another" long abscence.:D

We were there on July 4th 2001 and yes it was packed:dazed!! We went to Magic Kingdom and much to my surprise there were no lines in the morning what so ever. We pretty much jumped from ride to ride walking right on and never waiting until around 11:30 a.m. then they started to come and they kept coming and coming and coming until we finally called it quits around 4:30 p.m. (excuse: I was 7 months pregnant and the crowds were just too much :laugh ) While riding the tram to our car the CM told us that they reached capacity at 1:00 p.m. and that the park had been closed to any further guests:nervous

The moral of my story is go to which ever park you want to go to early ride all the rides and then leave and take a break. You can always go back for the fireworks because even if the park is at capacity if you are staying at a disney hotel you are guaranteed admission:D . Have fun!!!

We have been going to WDW during the last week of June and 1st week of July for a few years now. No matter which week, before or after, the crowds will be high. On the 4th itself, the MK has been closing due to capacity by noon. Crowds do pick up a bit after the 4th of July.

I have been at WDW the past 3 4th of July's. This past year was the first at MK!! It was *crowded*. We went first thing in the am, and it was fine...but a little more crowded than normal. My ds was getting sick, so we left around 1030 to go rest. I asked a CM manager at the gates what our chances of getting back in were, adn she said no problem. They *never* shut the park down to resort guests, especially if you were in that park earlier in the day!!:D (They did however shut it down to new guests driving in)

We got back at the MK around 530pm and just found a place to sit for the SPectromagic parade and then the fireworks right on main street. It was crazy, and in my trip report from 7/4, i showed a couple of pictures!!

We are again planning a trip this year for 4th of July weekend! I will only have seasonal passes so we wont be able to go to the parks, but we plan on spending the day at Blizzard Beach, and catching the fireworks from one of the resorts.

I think if you can plan time for a few days before or after the 4th, you should be fine!! Maybe a few days *after* since it is on a Sunday this year. Enjoy planning your trip!! And glad to see you posting again!!
