What not to miss?

My gf and I are planning on going to Disney next January (04), it will be my fifth trip, but it's been a couple years. The kicker is it will be my gf's first trip. Any advice on what not to miss. I have a few ideas, but I'm sure a lot has changed.

Thanks :)

if you like R&RC you will love Mission:Space. It gives you that same wild hyper feeling that R&RC does!! I didnt see it last August because it wasnt open yet but the new Mickey's Phil____ (cant remember the spelling) every one says is great .. looking forward to that myself in March

Don't miss rides

Welcome to DC and have a great time!

I highly recommend that you take your gf to Tower of Terror. If she's never been, she will be amazed.
When my dh and I visit MGM we have the routine down. Pick up a ToT fast pass then ride RnR. Then spend the rest of the day going between the two rides, with maybe a quick trip to Star Tours to break up the day.

Welcome to DC! Since it is your GF first time to Disney it will be hard to get everything in. Of course for both of you there will be Mission Space which is pretty cool if you don't have motion sickness. My other two favorites are ToT and RnRRC. But for her she needs to visit the old time favorites like the 3 Mtns at the MK. and the new Mickey's Philharmagic which I liked better than Mission Space. Have fun planning your trip and come to DC often!!

What is she visiting for??? Like, WHY is she going to Disney???

If it's for thrill rides that are done a LOT better than Six Flags Amusement Park, then the previous posts pretty much have got this covered.

Is dining an important part - checking interesting and unique restaurants / foods - or are you just interested in grabbing quick burger inbetween?

Shopping? Is lots of character souveniers important, or unique Epcot-like gifts? (If important at all.)

Historical Disney. Is she going to be interested in the "original" rides, to see what Walt Disney himself was after? Or are you just going to experience what's fun in present Disney (and therefore skipping the Hall of Presidents ;) )?

Parades? Shows? Fireworks? Do any of those interest her?

There is SOOOOOO much at Disney to experience and so many vastly different things that it's impossible to recommend a "must do" list without knowing what kinds of things she's interested in and and what would bore her to tears. :)

Well, I have to say It's a Small World. Love it or hate it, it's a Disney fans duty to take first timers on this ride and force them to be happy and have that song stuck in their heads.

:laugh

Also the Jungle Cruise (great jokes for first timers), Great Movie Ride, Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Philharmagic, Muppetvision 3D, Haunted Mansion, Kilomanjaro Safaris, and Dinosaur

Yes, the coasters and Tower of Terror are givens in my opinion.

Don't forget to ride the monorail, even if you don't need to. ;)

I have to agree with Spider on that one!!:laugh

My other "not to miss" would be Illuminations.

Without knowing the person, I would have to recommend MICKEY'S PHILHARMAGIC, the new fireworks spectacular WISHES (amazing!) and I also second BuzzLightYear's choice of ILLUMINATIONS.....these are NOT TO BE MISSED!

And OF COURSE, IT'S A SMALL WORLD...:dazed

Welcome to DC!! RnR is my FAVORITE as well as my DD's. AWESOME coaster! I think it's the take-off that does it for me and her.

Not to miss for me and my DD:

MK = Peter Pan, Pooh, All of the mountains, Buzz, Philarmagic (becasue it's new), it's a small world (myy DD not me), Jungle Cruise, parade, Spectro, and Wishes (first time for us)

MGM = RnR (of course), TOT (crossing my fingers DD won;t chicken out), Muppets 3D, Little Mermaid (my personal favorite show), Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, Fatasmic!

AK = Safari, Tough to be a bug, and that about wraps up that park for us...not our favorite but we loveto look at all of the animals and go through these great themed shops!

Epcot = new park for us but here's what we can't wait to do: Mission Space, Test Track, Maelstrom (sp?), Living Seas, and whatever else we can decide to do here. I am mostly wanting to SHOP!

I'd just like to thank you guys for giving me a place to get started. I know having been there and done most of the stuff to do in the parks at least once, that there is stuff like SmallWorld that I think can be skipped. I just want to make sure that my gf gets the full Disney magic like I did my first times going.
