Did JIYI open today?

I couldn't stand it, I had to ask if anyone new for sure if JIYI opened today?

Goofette, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, but yes, it did open on schedule. They have been having a "soft" opening all week, so people have actually been able to ride it before the actual opening.

From what I have heard it is a mixture between the original ride and the previous version, with a bunch of new stuff thrown in. Dr. Nigel is still present, but in a much reduced roll. He and figment take you through a sight, sound and smell room with figment everywhere. You then take a tour of figment's house, with a surprise ending.

I understand it is a nice upgrade from the previous ride, and is enjoyable and memorable. Hopefully, we will have someone soon give us an update who has personally been on the ride.

I couldn't understand why they changed it to begin with. I loved the original one, and have only seen the second one from videos. The second one looked Horrible compared to the first. I hope this last one will be as good as the first if not better.

Do you have any information about why it was first changed? There are lots of things I've wondered about (horizons also) I guess I could start a thread somewhere about rides that no longer exist.

Mickey, you were correct in your description of the new JIYI. I'm not complaining but I have to say that it's still not as good as the original JIYI. Don't get me wrong, it is MUCH better than the 2nd version!
I proudly bought the new "FIGMENT IS BACK" tshirt. :p

We have the first ride on video...from our Honeymoon tapes!!! It's fun going back and watching those tapes and seeing all the things then. I loved that ride.

BusyMom5x, do they have any of the original smells (loved the smells) or is it just the skunk smell that I read about?

Ahhh..........someone else that remembers the smells from the original JIYI..............I loved those! Sadly, all they have is the new skunk smell which is really quite "skunky" smelling! LOL

As far as your videos of the original JIYI.......you are a lucky dog!!!:p

A relative of mine was at EPCOT for the JIYI opening Saturday. According to her, it's summed up like this: Not the original ride & that's a shame, but it's very colorful & Figment is everywhere. To quote her, "Figment really has his OWN ride now, so if you like Figment, more Figment & even more Figment, you'll like it".

Suddenly, I am VERY anxious to head north! :D
