Good pics of the castle at night and fireworks??

Hey everybody, sorry for the long subject title, lol. Hope it doesnt cut it off. Anyways, When i go to disney Im "all about the pics", lol. i like showing them off to friends and have them in awe w/ my "postcard" pics, lol. Recently ive been trying to get pics of the castle at night with all of its colors and during fantasy in the sky fireworks. My mom has a simple 35 mm camera, nothing fancy-shmancy. Do any of you recomend any particular ways to get perfect CLEAR pics of the fireworks over the castle? And how the heck do u take a pic of the castle at night just lit up? ive tried and everything comes out black, lol. Iv'e tried w/ some success, ive demonstarted w/ flash, w/out ,etc.... some have worked some havent...i know some people recomend a camera w/ a faster shutter or something but i dont wanna buy a new one.I just wanted to get some opinions, advice, maybe a website about this. thanx for any help!
joe:)
p.s. and do u guys recomend any place for taking the pics? ive tried at the end of main street (where the RR station is)....to far away, i got to much background...and i tried right next to the walt statue...WAY to close, all i got was the castle .lol...any suggestions.......

I asked my husband your question. He use to be a photographer years ago. He said to get Kodak 100ASA film. Also, if you can set your shutter speed, set it to 1/60th of a second. He also suggested that you be at least 100 feet away from the castle. If the camera is sufficiently lit up you shouldn't need flash. But, my motto is take a picture with and without flash. I figure what have i got to loose. He says even if you can't set the shutter speed to try it anyway. Hope this helps.

Flash is really not going to help you here unless you have a very powerful one. Most are only good for about 12ft. Slow film AS400 and above do quite well but they are not good if the picture will be blown up.

Use a tripod and set to 1/60 as mentioned above.

Here's one I took, out of about 50, that I just found on my computer. This was done using a Mini DV Digital Camcorder with photo option. This is under a Megapixel but it does have 3 CCD for better color. This is not the best pic I have and I'll have to find the rest. It was also downsized to meet the upload size limit on this forum.

Hi! We just got back from WDW this last week. I took pics of the castle and the fireworks at the Plaza Pavilion. My pics of the fireworks turned out pretty good and the castle will be good the NEXT time we go because I'll take a tripod. You really need one because your shutter needs to stay open longer as already mentioned. When it stays open longer any little jiggles of the camera show up and blur the picture to some degree. Of course with fireworks this can give a very cool effect!

Thanks Dawn. Feel free to use it. I'll have to get the rest for posting but Mickey might need to approve them as it will take up his diskspace.

Maybe I can email them to you instead. Or Mickey might have a place already for a Gallery.

(Mickey, if you would like to have a gallery and need help modifying it, let me know as I have modified one to work with VB. PM if interested and I can show you my website)

I have thought about adding a gallary, but for now, I am going to wait. I had one working great before opening, but I removed it. If I change my mind, I will let you know. Thanks!
