Cast Member Killed in WDW Parade!

I ran across this in USA Today this morning. There was an accident during the afternoon Share A Dream parade at Magic Kingdom yesterday.

According to reports, a float ran over the cast member playing Pluto and killed him. This was just prior to them exiting the backstage area onto the street by Splash Mountain. Magic Kingdom officials do not know if anyone saw the accident.

Sad news indeed. Still sounds odd right now though.

Very interesting footnote about the Skyway. I wonder if that was the reason behind it's demise or just circumstance.

LDV, since this is a Disney forum, I would guess that there is a possibility that children could be viewing this forum, either alone or with a parent. For that reason, I think the title of this thread should be changed to avoid the specific reference to a Disney character.

However, I changed the subject on my original post, but the thread title won't change.

Maybe an admin can change it if they feel it is important.

Mickey and Mattomouseman are the moderators of this forum.
Matto is in Disneyland and Mickey is not currently on-line.

I would suggest deleting this thread completely by going to your first post and pressing edit. This will delete the thread. You can repost a new thread with a revised title. Unfortunately, any one who posted since will be deleted as well.

The alternative is to send a PM to Mickey and request he modify the title.

I was very upset to see the name of the character released. I would think the media would have safe guraded this for the children's sake. The accident was tragic enough. Did they need to crush some kid's hearts too? sheesh...

well my guess is disney did not release the characters name but a Cast member leak did. the media will blow anything up that they can.

OOOOOHHHH I am so sorry. I will keep the family in my prayers and thoughts...Maybe they will release enough that the family might get assistance if needed..

This is so tragic..:cry: Sometimes we get so caught up in the Magic of Disney that we forget it takes hard working "real" people to make that magic for us. I am truly sorry to this person's family.

My friend just got back from Disney, and was actually at the parade the day it happened. He said that they didn't know what had happened, but did know that something terribly worng had occured because there was a lot of helecopters circling the park.

I was confused about the employee who died on the skyway attraction. Hasn't this ride been closed for years?

I don't know I wasn't sure what the skyway was..... I wasn't sure if maybe thats what the called the monorail station at MK or the railway station. Does anyone know??
