What would you spend your last $60 on?

OK.
My mum has given each of my two children (boy of 15 and girl of 12) $60 each to spend at WDW. Excluding food and drink (that's on us apparently!) what would you suggest they spend it on in order to take away a lasting memory of their first trip to WDW? Remember whatever it is, the price has to be $60 or less.

Tom -
You might want to consider a Pal Mickey. My kids are younger than yours but when I asked about him for my kids for our first trip coming in September many people replied that even the older kids liked him guiding them around the parks. He's $60 and would be something you could take home as a momento.

Have a great trip.

I've enjoyed your posts and look forward to reading your trip report.

For $60? I would get a sweatshirt. I just bought a very nice gray one that is light weight with a hood. It has a small Mickey with Walt Disney World over it...cost $52. I always buy clothes to remember my trips and don't mind spending the $$ on them because they will last a long time. My DD's passion this trip was her laynard and pins and the pressed pennies collection. Both were cute but not something I'd spend my only $60 on. Why not a small snow globe or a watch? I'd still go for the sweatshirt or a T-shirt. What can I say? I have "clothes" issues...lol and shoes..lol You could always get the entire family for a picture in front of the castle and buy one of those very nice, but pricey frames for it. I don't think the kids will go for that, but maybe. I can't wait to hear what they picked. Dont forget to tell us!:)

My sister and her family collect the porceline figurines that run around $8 to $10 each...that way they could have several figurines of their favorite characters.

They also are currently selling a beautiful ceramic castle that lights up all the different colors (like the real one does after the fireworks) for around $45. I think MickeyMac got one on her last trip...

I also agree on the pins...if that is something they are interested in and the shirts....I love wearing my Disney World shirts...

my brother and I each received $75 from our Grandparents this past year (it was a pre-Christmas present) My brother wasted about $15 dollars on various candy products.....big mistake....he was 13 too, it was just candy looked good!

I'm 15 as well, and trust me, I'm sure your son will do just fine with his cash....just remind him he might want to budget....I left with around $100, and came back with $15. I don't know what your son or daughter have as interests...but I made it a point before to know that I wanted to spend money on certain things (Guest of Honor Badges) and I wanted to spend time in the Studio 1 store right outside of Muppet*Vision (I'm a huge muppetfreak!) So just make sure they know what they might want...then let them go from there.....

I didn't have much problem with money, mostly because I am huge tightwad. Half the fun of my trip was looking for clearance items......

Oh, and if your son has big dreams of a car at 16, he will probably want to look our for car stuff (loves her antennae toppers and air fresheners, and is kicking herself for not getting the been there done that going back window cling on)

I don't know if my rambling made much sense...I shouldn't post at 11:30 at night!

When you walk out of JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION WITH FIGMENT, there's place were you can have your pic taken with wide variety of backgrounds to choose from. My children love it. My daughter choose the ski diving, it looks like she's in a cartoon interacting with the charcters. "Its looks real". You can have a large poster made are something smaller like a 8 by 10. Tina

I collect those as well! I have about 20 of them displayedon a shelf in my room, they make great souviners! Another idea is if you or anyone in your family aren't great picture takers, I would buy the packs of postcards they sell in each park or at DTD. That way you have great pictures of all the landmarks and some of the popular rides to take back home and show friends. I hate geting my pictures developed after a vacation to discover that my finger was in the way, or it was blury, etc... They cost I think $5 for a set of 10.
Joe:)

Back in the early 1970's I went to WDW and purchased a Mickey Mouse watch. I still have it today. Nothing like buying something that you can use for 30+ years...a good use of money.

Two years ago I bought another Mickey Mouse watch. Decent ones will run $25 to $40. The bottom line is, they can buy a Disney item that they can use for years to come, and still have some change left over to buy something else! :)

They could spend a day, or at least half a day, at Disney Quest. The computer games, etc. are just great. My 10 year old remembers this fondly as a part of our January trip. At about $30 you they would have about $30 left for a tshirt or sweatshirt.

I would buy the pictures that are taken while you are riding various rides. The looks on their faces will be great to look back on in the future.

I agee with Fantasy. Each of them can buy a lanyard and some pins of their favorite characters or attractions. Or you can get a lanyard from home (less expensive) and only buy the pins. My kids, ages 7, 5 and 5 each have their own likes and have shown it by the choices they made on their pins.
