Illuminations viewing for guests with....

disabilities....

Does anyone know if there is a reserved area for wheelchair guests for illuminations? If there are no reserved areas does anyone have any suggestions on the best place to view? We will be a party of 8 and I thought about just making PS at Rose & Crown so we could have dinner and watch the show but I am not sure if everyone in the group would agree with my selection.

Thanks :)

I don't know where the area is but I know there is a place for guests with disabilities. If you go to R&C there is no way to know if you will get a table with a view until you get there. You could be stuck inside and miss the whole show.

there are 3 area's for handicapped viewing but they do fill up fast!!!! one is in front of Canada, an other is to the left of Show Case Plaza and the third is across from Germany.
get a map of Epcot when you go in and you can find them. But I must repeat ..they fill up quickley :( we didnt see Illuminations, because they were all taken.

I agree with tinkerbelle - the wheelchair spots for Illuminations were CROWDED - However, the wheelchair viewing spots for the Parades in Epcott (I hope they are still doing one?) and in the AK were awesome.
Totally unobstructed views right up front in a spot where the parade paused to interact with the crowd :p

Thanks for the responses. I will try the reserved area near Cananda. How early should we reserve the spot and how many people can be in that area with the person in the wheelchair?

mmm I dont know about reserving a spot .. from what I understand the best you can do is get there and get a spot early. They will not just hold a place for you. I have seen up to 8 people with someone in a w/c. Sometimes at some shows (American Adventure for example) only one family member will be able to sit with the disabled person and the rest of the family will have to sit in the next row down. and if you are going to see Tarzan Rocks .. the best seat for w/c is in the center!!! but the most that can be with the w/c is 3. Fastasmic has great w/c view for PS, seating but I am not sure how the viewing is for regular seating. Also at that show most of the family will have to sit in the next row down. I dont recommend the bottom row for Beauty and the Beast :(

Two suggestions

We had a couple of good options suggested to us, and we really enjoyed them... first, since you have to go early to get a good spot anyway, we went early to the little cafe on the water in front of Mexico pavilion and got a waterfront table... it was pretty easy to do, maybe an hour and fifteen minutes before the fireworks. Very easy with the wheelchair! Then, we had great apetizers and drinks, watched the crowd, and ultimately had terrific seats for the show. This was a fun day, and was a fairly easy exit to the Future World parking lot afterward.
The second suggestion we got was to go all the way into the far corner of the World Showcase... by the little "trading post" shop and "refreshment outpost" between Germany and China. The crowd is very light there, and there are little tables and chairs available pretty close to show time. This has worked for us often, though getting out of the park is a little more difficult!
