AP question
Does anyone know what date is used for activation of your AP's if you upgrade from park hoppers to an AP? We have one day left on our hoppers from last year and are thinking about redeeming them. We're wondering if they give you one year from the date you upgrade or does it go back to the date you first used the hoppers. Any help would br greatly appreciated.

I dont know about *upgrading* from a park hopper to an AP .. but an AP is good for one year from the day you activate it.
example .. mine was activated 3/7/04 so it will be good till 3/7/05. From what I understand though I must renew it before then .. and what ever date I renew the pass will be the new anniversary date.

Hey folks! This is Baloo's better half! What we REALLY want to know is if we will be able to upgrade our four-day hoppers (purchased in September 2003) to annual passes when we get to Disney on April 3rd. We have one day left on the passes. If we can upgrade the passes, how is the amount computed? For instance, is it the cost of an AP minus the cost of the 4-day Hopper? PLEASE, PLEASE help us out!!! This is going to make the difference in a "we are at Disney and this is fun" and a "I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW AWESOME THIS IS, I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYTHING ELSE BETTER IN THE WORLD, I WISH WE NEVER HAD TO GO HOME, WHEN CAN WE COME BACK, I CAN'T STAND THE EXCITEMENT" kind of trip! Thanks in advance!!!

Yes, they will upgrade. They will prorate your 4day pass to how many days are left on it, and apply that amount to an annual pass.
I've also heard of someone getting a full credit towards the AP, but Disney was able to track the original purchase and redemption in their system, and backdated the Annual Pass to that date. I don't recommend doing that if you do plan on going again in the year, as you've lost the opportunity for the resort discount on that first pass. Does that make sense? Doing it this way, however, you do NOT get the renewal discount. Do the math to see which works out in your favor. Tink, one way to 'get around the system' is to purchase a new AP outright, instead of upgrading (do this if you've got months to go between your trip, obviously) Then, you get a new AP renewal date. If you're a religious Disneyaholic like the Mickster and routinely upgrade, then yeah, you've got a solid anniversary date.

Thanks for the replies! We may have to end up just buying a 3-day, 3-park pass, but Disney is Disney.
Again, thanks for the info!
