Is the Dinosaur ride in AK the old "Countdown to Extinction" ride? Have they changed it in any way?

And since I am talking Dinosaurs ... do they still have that Dinosaur Ride in Epcot?

yep it was renamed Dinosaur after the movie came out ..the only difference is that Aladar is now in front of the enterance to Dinosaur instead of the one they had before, you still go back to get a dino :)
and yes Universe of Energy is still there with a make over :) if you havent seen it in a while Ellen Degeneres (sp?) host it by having a dream she is playing jeopardy :)

Yes, Dinosaur is the same as Contdown to Extinction. And yes, Universe of Energy (ride with dinosaurs) is still open, though it is now without a sponser.

I don't know the history of it - but the Dinosaur ride at AK is awesome! It was one of my favorite rides - but it is quite scary.

Universe of Energy is one of my favorite rides at Epcot. (1. Test-Track, 2. MS 3. Universe of Energy). Ellen Degeneres is very funny and brings a lot of life to the show.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that Dinosaur was to close soon for rehab and would not reopen till June 5 or 6. Anyone else read this? I remember because we will be there in May and were looking forward to riding it. Joe

Two things:

1. Ellen is the BEST!!! I LOVE that pre-show! I mean, it cracks me up every time! Like when she says, as Bill Nye just walks into her apartment, no one ever locks their doors in New York - I LOVE it!! It's so funny because it is like that on tv shows and things all the time, and that is so ridiculous. I also like her bone crunching Ellen munching shark line (that's a three part thing, but I've forgotten one). And, inside the ride when she's fighting the dinosaur - don't make me use this thing! I'll use it -- I'll use the thing. :)

2. Oh, I hope Dinosaur isn't closed! We've just tentatively booked a weekend away in May, and it would be fun to be able to go on it then.

Hey yall,
Everyone taking a Trip to Dak in may, like me, are gonna be terribly upset!
Dinosaur is closed for rehab until June 1st I believe.
This is terrible since Dinosaur is one of the parks best attractions!!!!! Plus one of my fave's

As most of yall know Exxon Mobil is not sponsoring the universe of energy anymore. But it's still gonna be same old same old. I almost wish they didn't add Ellen Degeneres to the program, as I don't feel she added anything. Then again I miss the Horizons Pavillion.

Yea, they did change the name from Countdown to Extinction to Dinosaur when that movie came out. I always loved the name CTX, it has such a good ring to it. It sounds more exciting that Dinosaur. Oh well.

Universe of Energy at Epcot is great too. I've always loved that ride since I was a kid, but adding Ellen and Bill Nye really made it so much better. That pre-show is so funny.

I was watching that show last night on the travel channel about WDW and I noticed that CTX is still on the time machine vehicles.
