Trapped in the parks at night...

Last vacation, our kids were bummed about leaving MK, and they started to talk about what they would do and where they would sleep if they were stranded at the park at night, locked in, and all the adults had gone home... We started thinking that sounded really fun too. They chose swimming over to the pirate ship in Pirates of the Caribbean to fire the cannons. Or how about their other choice, which was to see what it felt like to go down the Splash Mountain drop without a boat... I would explore Cinderellas' Castle to see what is actually inside. And I would sleep in the bedroom of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse...
So, if you were marooned in a park at night, what would you do?

Go to the top of Spaceship Earth and sleep under the "fake" stars.

What a great idea MissDaisy! I would have to say the Haunted Mansion just for the thrill of an over-nighter in a "haunted house". I would love to check the place out all over with and without a doombuggy. Also the Hollywood Hotel would be cool.

Great question!!

I would make myself at home in the VIP suite inside the castle.

Here's a question for the WDW employees out there. Does WDW ever completly shut down?? I always thought that it was a 24/7 kinda operation. When the paying customers leave, the other work begins. Anybody know?

I would explore each and every shop without the "MOM! ARE YOU DONE YET?" Then I would definately have to do all the attractions a few times except for...the dolls. That would be a little to creepy at night for me.

I would have to be stuck in Epcot! I would probably go to all the behind-the-scenes spots, and find out where that walk Off Kilter comes down really leads to :D

I'd ride Buzz Lightyear 4 times without waiting in a huge line, stop in at The Carousel of Progress and then maybe go to the Hall of Presidents to see if anyone was talking.

Wow, what a neat thought. Unfortunately, most of the rides would be shut down, as it takes people to make them work, but imagine if for one magical night, the park came to life by itself. Sounds like a good idea for a book or tv movie! (are ya listenin' ABC?)
"After the magic is over... the magic begins!" :) Hmmm. I think I've found a little inspiration for a project.

As for the 24/7 thing:
I had a friend who was a castmember a decade ago who said she and a fellow castmember would get to EPCOT extra early and JOG the length of the countries, pausing to stretch every now and then. I'm sure folks still do that now, if it's allowed.

My nephew, who was once another CM, also used to call back and tell us how one of his favorite things was to roam the parks after or before hours (he worked in that restaurant that's closed, I can't think of the name of it, on the left hand side of the entrance, the last one before you enter Mexico).

Quite frankly, I think I'd be a little freaked out if I were in there by myself. I've been there at night, and the sky is so overbearingly dark, that it would be a little creepy for this city boy whose nightsky views are blocked by buildings.

Disney should like rent slots where you could spend the night in the park!!! I mean I know they do a lot of work in the parks at night, and that it really never closes. But.... wouldn't that be awesome????? :)

Just your friendly neighborhood Cm to answer that question.
When all the parks close, it's another hour before things get shut down, Since the shops all stay open an hour after close for guests to shop. Which btw is a great way to avoid the long lines on the MR or FB after fireworks!!! Plus we make sweeps all over MK to see if anyone's left! So don't even try staying over night, Disney Security arent some of the nicest folks! :p
Anyways after all clear, the techs and cleanup guys come out at night. So they make sure MK is spotless and in working order. When I come in for an open shift they are leaving and when I close they are coming in. So technically MK I know never is truly closed.
I worked TL speedway, so you know I rode the cars after close!!! :)

Are you kidding...you have to ask??? Who would like to join me for an "all-nighter" at the HAUNTED MANSION???

Wouldn't that be a DISNEY Blast? ( I loved the question...thanks for asking! ) :)

Two things that would be so much fun for me-Space Mountain and ToT. ToT would be a blast at night when no one was in the park.
