I found the article interesting, but nitpicky. Yes, it is an old park but let's take a look at some other amusement parks. Anyone been to Six Flags America? I don't know about the other Six Flags but I won't be going back anytime soon. Trash-y.

I know some friends that have been and the also said they would never return. The CM's and guests are no where near as friendly as WDW. If you want to find a wonderful park near DC try Busch Gardens Williamsburg.... now that is Disney quality!!! The theming is beautiful and CM's are wonderful!!! Just wish they had FP (no one can beat that Disney innovation!!);)

Rest easy! MK is clean as a whistle!

When I got home from WDW last night, I couldn't wait to reply to this thread! I was so saddened by this article, as we all were, that I went around MK and the other parks actually LOOKING for problems! Shameful that I even devoted a moment to such a pursuit, but I just wanted so badly for everything to be all right. And you know what??? It was!
The bathrooms were sparkling, the buildings were beautifully painted (no chips!), the streets were spic 'n span! There wasn't even a seagull or crow to be found... and I mean ANYWHERE!
The gardeners had been doing their jobs perfectly, there was a full staff of custodial CMs all around with brooms, and there even were some fresh paint jobs going on!
I started thinking I was looking at the world with rose-colored glasses and so I searched even harder for a flaw. And the only detail I found was a tree in the Raceway line that had a few pieces of gum stuck on it!
So everyone can really relax! WDW is waiting for you with all its beauty and perfection!
:D

Insidious music you say? Check this out, I had to audition for a character to a techno arrangement of that song! To quote Strong Bad: "THE SYSTEM IS DOWN!!!!"

Now to get back on topic:
When I visited past spring break at the age of 21 I was just as impressed as when I was 10 and we went! In fact, I enjoyed it EVEN MORE and was able to respect all that Walt Disney had imagined. You can't walk the streets and find overflowing garbage cans or even litter on the ground! But yes, there has been bad decisions made in the past that have required cuts. Prime example: Euro Disney. IMHO, it should not still be going on. Why else would people who live in Europe spend all their money to cross the Atlantic to come to WDW when they have a park there? Maybe I'm missing something and I could very well be wrong (please if I am in the wrong help me out), but I do agree with others here that the international parks could be hurting the company. Something's just not adding up. I don't know enough bout Eisner or the stuff he's done to take sides, although I am aware of how power hungry he is/was. But from what I've read in Walt's bios and what I see today is not quite what coinciding together. Yet, the magic is still there. Things will come back together soon enough.

I don't think many of them are going to EuroDisney or TokyoDisney as they would like you to believe. When we were at WDW in Oct. 2003, we met a LOT of people from England, and my DD pointed out several with maps in Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, and several other European countries. Why I wonder are they coming to WDW if they have EuroDisney right in their backyard? Is it because no matter what EuroDisney cannot top WDW with its four parks, resorts and water parks? There are things that you can get at WDW that you just can't get anywhere else and that includes EuroDisney. No matter how hard Eisner tries he cannot recreate the original MK. The magic created there is better than anywhere else. They should never have put the money into EuroDisney and spent that money instead into heavy refurbishment and upgrade on the flagship parks here in the US. Both Disneyland and WDW would have been better represented if they had done that instead of going overseas. That was a bad tactical maneuver, and one that cost DL and WDW.

Actually Tokyo DL is doing well enough that the now have DisneySea over there.
The thing about TDL that people may not know is that it's actually a franchise. I'm sorry to say it but yes Disney Franchised out DL!
You know who to thank for that *ahem*
Anyways EuroDL isn't doing too hot, never really has.
Now I want to know whats up with Disneyland Honk Kong.
I don't know how thats gonna go.
Anyways back to the topic, TDL is great cause the japanese will actually spend money for things. Which is why DisneySea is supposed to be top of the line state of the art.
I haven't heard much from it on this side, but I have seen the website and I really want to go! Euro Disney not too much, but if I was in Paris I'd stop by and check it out.

I do know that if you use your dvc points to book a EuroDL resort they include the tickets with the room. I think they want to make sure that you'll go. They don't do that on DL or TDL, just EDL. I think that speaks volumes.

I have only been to WDW twice, 2002 and 2004, both during Spring Break. Actually, we just got back from the 2004 trip.

I think WDW is beautiful. I just don't see the "decline in upkeep." I think people are just looking for something to complain about. My husband hasn't been to WDW since 1990 and he thought everything was immaculate.

All I have to say is if people think WDW is so bad, then they just need to stay home.

I personally don't know how anyone takes the time to spot all these so-called imperfections.

WDW gets a thumbs-up from me!!!!:heart
