WDW in October?

I've only ever been to WDW in May and it was great as the lines were relatively small and it wasn't fully humid yet but still nice and toasty :)

The parks were open pretty late as well. I love being in the parks when it's dark. Just seems really magical and gives a different slant on the surroundings.

I'm guessing the parks close earlier in October as it's the end of summer? We're going on the 22nd for a fortnight so I believe it's after school holidays.

I'd also like to know what kind of weather we can expect? Is it still hot? (Considering a hot day here is about mid 70's!!)

Thanks for any info you can give

October is one of my most favorite times of year to go. The weather is a litle cool in the mornings and relatively warm in the afternoons (but nothing like a hot day in May). The parks do close earlier, but I have never gone in October and missed anything. Less crowds = shorter lines and in some cases no wait at all. You'll have a blast!:)

Thanks for the info!

Relatively warm for you is probably more like hot for me! As long as I can walk about in shorts I'm happy...

We go in Oct every year, and we really enjoy it. Last year the crowds were the worst since we started going in Oct. But were still no comparisson to the summer time. I would suggest that you go to the Halloween party on your trip. We have been the past two years, its the highlight of our trip.

Coooool! Tell me about the Halloween party :)

We had planned to go to another park for Hallowe'en (Not sure if this other park is a sweary word on here or not...hehe) but I wasn't aware that Disney had a Hallowe'en party!!

What's it all about? Do they have loads of villains? Is the park open later? Any info greatly appreciated!

the Halloween party is where the parks are closed down at like 6 and from 7 - midnight with a special ticket you get in and they have trick or treat spots everywhere and where you can get your picture taken and a halloween parade they have it on certain nights of the week and Halloween night is the fastest to sell out ( I went last year and it was packed ) the ticket costs about 35 dollars for adults (I dont have children so I am not sure how much they cost here is a picture of me and dh from the party last year actually ( right before we got on the bus ( everyone kids and adults dress in costume )

Excellent pic! What a great costume :)

Unfortunately my luggage allowance is only 20kg so I doubt I'd be able to dress up in anything resembling your costume!

Magic Kingdom on Hallowe'en would be great! Or even MGM cos they might have all kinds of movie villains :nervous Hehehe

Do you have to book in advance or do you reckon there'll still be tickets available from Guest services around October 23/24? Sounds like it could be a real riot :D

Oct is great to go. We went last year and we are going again this year in Oct. You should check the MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party). There is a whole thread on here about it with lots of pictures. It has the title MNSSHP - check it out. They give out candy, take pictures of you and mail them back to your house, you can ride all the rides that are open, meet the characters in costume, watch special spooky fireworks, a special Halloween parade, see all kind of ghosts, goblins, and scary music in the park, and party at the dance spots. It's great. You can probably get a costume at DTD at the Disney Store. There were lots of adults who were dressed up and some who weren't.
But you have to get the tickets for the nnight you want as soon as they go on sale. It is a separate hard ticket event, and it is only for 13 nights in October, and it sells out fast. It is a primo event. It and the Very Merry Christmas Party in December Sell out in a Hurry, so if you want to go pick a date now and plan to buy the ticket for that date when it goes on sale. The only place you can get it is straight from Disney. There is another thread on here that has the MNSSHP dates. I think it is called MNSSHP dates. lookfor it to get the dates. There are more dates at the end of the mmonth than at the beginning of the month.

MNSSHP is a lot of fun and worth going to. It is not only on Halloween night but others too. The later in Oct. the more crowded it is. We went last year during Columbus Day weekend and it was crowded. We didn't get our tickets until a month beforehand but if you want a specific date you may want to start making plans.
