FIrstly, IS the extra magic hour still operating (i heard it was discontinued since SEpt 11)? ANd if it is, it means Disney Resort HOtel GUests are able to enter the parks earlier than other guests right? Do we enter from a different entrance so that non disney hotel guests arent jealous or complain? If so, where is the door? And is the Extra Magic Hour only function on certain days and on certain parks (like eride?)?

Yes the Extra magic hour is still going on, where did you hear that they stopped it???

But there is a secret entrance, now you have to take the super secret back door entrance only known to cm's. Yes it's true the reason for that is many of the non resort guests were getting upset and rowdy. One of the problems with letting guests backstage is that they see the secrets, so they have to be blindfolded and led by cm's to the other side!
To find the door all you have to do is go up to the turnstiles and show your resort ID, then give the cm the password for the morning, that should be given to you by the front desk cm of your resort.

OK that was all made up, but a cm has to have some fun ;), just show your ticket and resort ID at the turnstiles and no problem. Then laugh at all the non-resort guests and wave! Actually don't do that! :laugh Oh and the extra magic hour does pertain to each park on particular days. Your resort should give you a paper with news about wdw and each parks magic hour for the week.

As for staying at the contemporary, depends on where you are tower or wing. Monorail most definately for epcot! Walking to MK is a good idea since it's so close, but with kids monorail or bus. Since walking with a stroller and such can be a pain in the early hours of the morning or at night.

AK - Monday and Friday
MGM Tuesday and Saturday
MK- Thursday and Sunday
Epcot - Wednesday



personally from experience .. I believe it is faster to walk to MK from the Contemp or visa versa, but thats just me :) \\\\

you fit in wonderfully here on DC. I hate to brag ( well no I dont .. I am Texan its my birthright to brag) ....but DC really seems to only attract the most special kind of Disney fans .. we may not all agree on which is the best, movie, resort or park ..but we agree we love Disney. And the majority of people that post on DC are the Kindest, most considerate people I have ever found online. So you will help attract more like you and thats always a good thing!!!

A Triple-A rep told me that since sept 11, early entry was discontinued. WHile on the topic of having fun when parks arent open, e-rides are still in operation too right?

They did suspend the magic hour several years ago and replace it with a character caravan that visited each resort in the morning, prior to park openings, for pictures, autographs ,etc. I wrote to Disney and complained, as apparently many others did as well, and they brought back the magic hour. It is one of the main advantages of staying on site, and I use it to decide which park to visit. They do tend to change the mornings on me , though, which throug a wrench in my plans last time. Does anyone know what parks open early on what days, now?
