www.allearsnet.com is reporting changes coming to the MK:

Changes Coming to the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland:

It's a Small World -- Closes this summer for a rehab that will include a refurbishment of the characters and installation of new enhanced audio. The rehab is expected to be completed sometime during the Spring of 2005.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - after years of being closed, since 1994 actually, walls will go around this area beginning April 19th, so that it can be cleared and landscaped for unspecified future development. No other plans for the area have been officially announced. There have been many rumors over the years for this area including a "Fire Mountain" roller coaster and a villians themed attraction -- only time will tell what will become of this space!

There was a lot of talk about this on a thread that I posted earlier this week. I heard about both of these on mouseplanet.com

Sorry Tink, but it's only till March of 2005 and if the rehab goes anything like Stitch's Great Escape they'll have it finished early.

Not August, but Early 2005, and imagine that grand re-opening celebration that they'll have. Won't that be something to see. Disney always does things right and in grand style, especially when it come to a favorite attraction like IASW.

Even if they are Evil Smiling Dolls.

I hope they do something neat with 20K. It's really sad how that attraction has sat "dead in the water" (pardon the bad pun) for years. It was such a great attraction in the first place...hmmm...I kinda like the sound of "Fire Mountain," whatever that rumor is! Mountains tend to be pretty darn good! ;)

eek I dont know .. I just thought that maybe the reason for a good refurb would be because they do finally have a sponsor. I know its been several years now they have been with out one and maybe thats why its really needed refurbishing so bad for so long .. -- lack of a sponser.

I think .. Kodak was .. or coke acola? I just can not remember, but I remember the pictures of children .. I think thats why I am thinking at least at one time Kodak was the sponsor

:cry: even though its a chessy ride.....I wanted to ride it when I go in August......now I can't:cry: It's just one of those rides that I have to go on.

I'm glad they are going to redo the IASW ride. We could relly se that it needed it when we were there in Oct.
I hope they do something really exciting to 20,000 Leagues.

But I wish they would do some work on Peter pan's Flight. Poor Wendy she needs her face painted so bad.
