Disney Dog Kennels

Hey guys!! I was hoping someone could help me with this. My parents and I are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in July. We have two puppies (they're three, but I still call them puppies) and it would be very expensive to board them for the entire week. We are driving down and we've found a hotel that will let us have them in the room with us, but we would like to know information on the Dog Kennels on property. I've heard things like, you have to come out and walk your dogs three times a day, but what can else can you tell me? Like prices- what they are like- do all parks have them? Thanks for all the help in advance!!

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

Disney has five kennels on property:

Ticket and Transportation Center
EPCOT
Disney-MGM
Animal Kingdom Park
Fort Wilderness

Only the TTC and EPCOT kennels will board overnight. The cost is $6 per day, and $9 overnight. EVERY pet is required to be walked three times daily at ANY location, despite its age. The Epcot kennel offers a dog walking service for $2.50 per walk.

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

I just looked at my maps for each park and every park has a kennel. MK's are near the TTC, & Epcot, AK, and MGM all have theirs near the main entrances to each park. The WDW Passporter (It is the Ultimate Guide to Disney) states that the Disney kennels will board pets for $6 per day, and resort guests can board their overnight for $9 per night. Pets in kennels must be walked 3 times per day by their owners. The Epcot kennel offers a dog- walking service for $2.50 per walk.

Actually if the pets are at the front of the park that you are at, going up to walk them shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience. When we used to stay there many years ago, there was only one kennel and it was in Fort Wilderness and you still had to walk your dog 3 times per day. So, it sounds a lot better now with kennels at every park; however, I would get to the park early to ensure a kennel space for my dog because they may fill up quickly.

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

I believe that the kennels are all airconditioned as well. Kinda an important thing in Florida! :)

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

Oh, yeah the kennel are really nice. They don't have wire bottom cages that hurt the dogs feet and they will get cleaned up if there is an accident. The people who work there LOVE animals. Our dog used to love to go there and I swear, he remembered the people at the Fort Wilderness kennel. They remembered him, too. They were the same ones every time, and knew him by name. We stayed in the campground a LOT. A couple of times we came in to walk him and one of the CMs would be carrying him around. Of course, this was quite a while ago and there were not so many animals that were staying there. But just as with human animals preferential treatment is the norm with pet guests at Disney as well.

Something else to remember..."All dogs and cats staying at a Walt Disney World kennel are required to have a certificate of vaccination signed by a licensed veterinarian (rabies, parvo, DHLP, Bordetella."

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

maybe a dumb question but is it $6.00 a day plus $9.00 over night or would it be $9.00 total?

Re: Disney Dog Kennels

It is $9 for overnight total and you can only do that if you are staying at a disney resort. You don't have to pay another $6 for the day. That is if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Also if you are camping at Fort Wilderness, you can keep your dog or cat in your RV (not a tent) in selected areas. You have to ask for this though. I think this is cool. They didn't used to do this many years ago when we stayed there, but I wish they had. Our dog sure would have liked that better.
