Worth our while?
I hope this is not considered spam...and I hope its in the right place... ^_^ While planning our trip in late May of this year my mom asked: Is "Animal Kingdom" worth a whole day's ticket?
Although I didn't visit as often as other parks when I was down there, I got a good fill but probably only covered half the park as far as attractions are concerned. My brother and I saw all we wanted to see by 1pm and made a half day of it, but me and my mom are frugal (okay, i am just cheap ^_^) and we strive to get everything we can out of our Disney days. I know, "it depends on what your mom is into, Laura!" Well she is game for just about anything. The only thing is that her feet aren't great, so mucho walking can be a bit detrimental. Well anyways, if anyone can tell me whether its worth a whole day's ticket, or anything else, it is much appreciated. :-) Also, are the "Flight of Wonder" and "Tarzan" shows worth a look? I never got to do either of these...and I will never do Kali River Rapids! ![]()

Re: Worth our while?
I would say Animal Kingdom is worth a visit but considering the walking issue, maybe not. I didn't realize how much we missed (Asia, Rafiki's, the bats to name a few) until after I came home. We too left at around 1-2pm. Our feet just did not want to go any further and our mistake was that we saved AK for last. After 6 days, these little tootsies were done for. The walk to Kilimanjaro safari alone tired these then 24 year old legs out. It is, as you said, all according to your mother. If she is into animals, then maybe there is a way around the walking issue, they do have plenty of benches around and you can also do the shows on your way up to the furthest parts of the park. This way, there will be plenty of resting in between.

Re: Worth our while?
Hey miss screever!
Well all I can tell you is it is up to you. I can spend a whole day there taking in everything, but after you go through it all once, thats pretty much it. A lot of people will rush through it due to the lack of rides. Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro, and kali oh theres the carnival rides there too, which are cute I guess. Seriously, Rafikis conservation station, usually gets passed over by me, I did it once, it wasn't too great. I finally went to camp minnie mickey for Festival of the lion king, which was great! Tarzan rocks was cool, I am going to go see it in may, 2nd time in god knows how many years. Flights of wonder, is eh, yup just eh. OK sir hold out a dollar while (birds name here) fetches it. Oh did you want the dollar back, yuck yuck yuck, har har har. Whoo oh then there's the actor thats afraid of birds...*yawn* Just go see it if you're tired of walking. AK is a great park and I love the amnimals, yes I did say AM-Ni-Mals! but it was built to be hot, the plants are tropical and lush which traps more heat. This and the layout is horrible, causing more walking. I was shocked to see there was only 1 water foutain on the walk to camp Minnie Mickey, it seemed to take forever to get to FotLK! Is it worth a full day, no cause it closes at 5pm, if you have a park hopper most def go, if you're paying seperate admission, save money and do a waterpark! Did that help?? Oh side note, are you gonna apply for the campus rep role?? If you do, put me on your resume or whatever as a reference, it may help! ![]()

Re: Worth our while?
Tarzan is not worth it. I have never heard such screeching out songs that passed for talent. I will never understand why people think screaming a song means a person has talent.

Re: Worth our while?
we saw Tarzan Rocks for the first time last month and loved it, we havent seen Flights in several years, you didnt mention The Festival of the Lion King (we missed it last month) but its a great show. Personally we feel like it worth it but thats just us, but if you have doubts and walking is a problem then you may want to forget about seeing AK this trip

Re: Worth our while?
O.k., I have to complain about Tarzan too. DBF loved it though. Anyway, it's composed of four elements. 1) CMs who think they're auditioning for Star Search singing the Tarzan songs. I can do that in my own living room, don't need to watch other people doing it and trying to be too sincere. 2) bunch of guys with vines and stuff on them skateboarding or rollerbladding (I don't remember which) around the place. if you like skating, I'm sure it would be very interesting. but not something I wanted to sit there and watch. 3) Trek or Tek or whatever the Rosie O'Donnel ape was named in a big fuzzy costume prancing around the stage. hated that character in the movie, hated it more "live" where it didn't fit with any of the other design elements of the show. 4.) two traipise(sp?) artists supposed to be Tarzan and Jane who do not sing, but swing around on vines (Jane didn't look a THING like Jane, IMHO, and she had on a skimpy costume like from the b&w movies not like from the Disney film). Circe d'Solie has no competition here.
Of course, I didn't care much for Festival of the Lion King either! :)

Re: Worth our while?
We really enjoy AK - we do have three kids though (9, 7, and 3) I don't know if that makes a difference. There is really alot to see there. I would say "ditto" on Tarzan. It stunk. FofLK was good. Also, if you do have a problem with your feet - get a motorized scooter. When we were there on Spring Break - everyone had them. You can get on any ride and generally get to go right to the front of the line.

Re: Worth our while?
My suggestion for this post is.............. When at DW you should do everything at least once. Then you, and only you can make the decision as to if you want to ever do it again. I think AK is great!! I know Tarzan Rocks is ok, and as far as Flights of Wonder (well, I do not like birds) but did it anyway. Don't think I'd go back again, but at least we did go see these attractions.
Our family has just spent a half a day there too. But, we go to AK everytime we are visiting DW. DH loves it!!!!! Have fun !!!! ![]()

Re: Worth our while?
I would not go unless you had a Park Hopper ticket and could spend half a day there and half a day at another park! By the way, Is the Loin King Show still there??? It was wonderful!!!

on the contrary - Tarzan Rocks is one of the few things about AK we liked. Oh well, if we all thought the same about everything, it would be a boring world.

Re: Worth our while?
Sorry that I'm bumping this, but I had to thank everyone who responded. So THANKS YA'LL for your helpful feedback! My mom and I decided that Animal Kingdom will not be done on this trip, because we don't feel it is worth a whole day's ticket. Well at any rate, we are still going to Epcot and I'm going to take her to see Illuminations!! Whee! We'll probably spend our AK day in MK and both finally see Wishes! Whee! ^_^ Thanks again, my DC friends...
