NOTE TO SELF - pictures with characters
One thing I did learn- and must share with everyone, which most of you probably know already - At MK, when we went to Toontown and saw Mickey, the kids and I posed for a picture with Mickey while my husband was trying to take our picture at the same time as the photo guy! So - we have this great photo of the kids and I with Mickey, plus another shot my husband took. Husband is no where to be seen in the photo, of course!
Note to self - get EVERYONE in the picture - don't take your own. When traveling with just 2 adults and 3 little ones, it's worth it to buy the picture they take for you. This is my new rule, even if I'm out $50 by the end of it all with all the different places you can get photos. My son and husband have a great one from the Test Track too - something my son LOVES to look at. It's his favorite momento!

Re: NOTE TO SELF - pictures with characters
Hey InterFX,
welcome to the DC. Umm I have to say, why not get everyone in the pic to begin with?? As a Cm I love it that you put in the extra cash for anything, but you really don't need to. With most character interacts, the cm will happily take a pic of you and the fam. I know the ones at AK have picture people there, but the other cm happily took our pic and we have some great shots! Also don't hesitate to ask a cm in the park, whether it be cm's setting up for parade or custodial, they're here to help. I know I have taken many a picture for families in front of the castle for parade duties. Actually I'm a little upset no one asked you. I have gone up to many a family and asked if they all wanted to be in the pic together. Always with a smile, they show me how to use their cam (I'm an expert now!) and I get a great shot! It was one of my most fave things to do, since I know what it's like to need someone to take pics of you.

Fred is a my kind of man! Always looking for ways to save a buck!
I agree with both of you. In general, if you need a pic with your whole group, there's ALWAYS a CM nearby to take a pic, PARTICULARLY if you're taking a pic with a character. But, the professional pics generally come out a bit nicer and have the little Disney stamp on them (at least the bigger ones do.) So, spend a little and have a few of the professional shots done (you don't have to buy them all) and pick/buy the best 1, 2 or 3 one your way out. Get the best of both worlds.

Re: NOTE TO SELF - pictures with characters
Matt,
I've had the "pros" do it and at the end of the day the pics that the cm's w/ the characters take come out better than the ones I buy at Expo hall etc etc. I guess since the pro's do it all the time, they do it quick and then it's done. I love the pics I get off the rides though! I have a big poster with me and my fellow cms/roomates on dinosaur, since we knew the location for the cam we had a great shot! All in all, I say just look at the pic beforehand, also some pics you just cant get yourself. Such as the ones on the rides also the pics they take of you in the waterparks, those are classic! So speaking of that I too will be doing a mixed bag, buying pics from rides and water parks, and getting cm's to take pics with me and my fuzzy friends. Lastly I will admit I do reccommend buying the professional pics, due to the fact that some packages offer wallet size and those are great when you're out and showing pics from your wallet!
