Just as I predicted, or SG meets the Dream Team

Yesterday I was in MGM around 12:30. I went to ToT and saw there was a 40 minute wait. I'd hoped to use one of my old FPs, but the CM, for the first time, didn't let me use it. The time was wrong. I decided that I had plenty of time to kill before Lights, Motors, Action, so I got in line. I quickly discovered the line was nowhere near 40 minutes, matter of fact, the stand-by line was shorter than the FP line and both were only as long as the final corner before you enter the lobby. We quickly are queued into the right hand library, as I notice, the left hand library isn't being used. I wonder how they say there's a 40 minute wait. Well, the door stayed closed for a long time and when it finally opened I noticed what I thought was a CM in training and a handler/observer. Once in the room there were more CMs than I've ever seen in a pre-show. After the lights came back on, we were, as they say "punked". The CMs were a Dream Team and we'd all just won a Wish, one hour this evening after MGM closed, all winners would be treated to one private hour in the park.
Here's the part that I knew would happen as predicted. Months ago, I predicted that I'd never meet a Dream Team or if I did, my prize would be useless to me because I wouldn't be able to use it. Sure enough, my plans were to have been on the road for home by 3 PM, 4 PM at the latest. No way I was going to hang out for 6 hours and then drive home at 11. I didn't want to be getting home at 3:00 AM, for sure I'd have had to stop and nap on the way home. So, I kept the button, but didn't take the wrist band.
Then, I went to Star Tours, still having plenty of time before the show. Sign says 20 minute wait. When we finally made it to the loading area, I couldn't believe my luck! A Dream Team was set up on Gate 3. I've been up to WDW numerous times since October and nary a sighting, yet here I ame crossing paths with Dream Teams twice in 30 minutes time. I would have had two buttons if I'd been loaded onto 3 instead of 1. Yet, big deal, I still would have won another unfulfilled dream if I had. And what's up with 9 PM anyway, don't they know there's fireworks?! If I had planned on Illuminations, I wouldn't have been able to use this wish either way.

Congratulations on getting a dream and a cool one at that. However, I'm sorry you couldn't use it, could you at least pass it on to another guest?

Re: Just as I predicted, or SG meets the Dream Team

Twice in one trip!!! WOW!

I often wondered about that. If you would win a dream and couldn't use it. Like what if you would have won the night in Cindy's Suite and you had a flight out later that day. What would happen?!

I read somewhere in reference to the BIG prizes that if they go to one of the randomly selected sites to award a dream and no one is there, it goes back in the bin to be re-dreamed later.

Imagine being next to the empty seat!!! Not a Dream, but a Nightmare!

That would be awful! That makes me want to drive even more, then we can stay and not miss our flights.

Congrats on receiving a dream - that is one amazing dream!!

:c)

Too bad you couldn't use it. I like DT's question - did you get to transfer it to someone else?

You know what else is funny? It being Saturday, MGM has their morning EMH, which I blew off because I wanted to sleep a little longer because I'd gotten to sleep so late. But having an AP and living as [relatively] close as I do and having been to WDW perhaps 20 or more days in the last year, I just don't have the urgency as even a 5th time vistor. Perfect example is I arrived Friday and went directly to AK at 4 PM and caught EE, Primevel Whirl, and It's tough to be a bug all inside about an hour and then left to check in at AKL with what should have been enough time to make it to MK in time for Wishes. Well, except that I missed the bus by 30 seconds and the next didn't arrive for 20 minutes, which still would have gotten us there by 7 and they'd started Wishes at about 6:35 when the sky wasn't even dark! (Again, good thing I've seen Wishes live perhaps 16 times since Jan 1, 2006).

Erin, not transfer, but even if I had taken the wrist band, the odds that I'd give it to a single person party were pretty slim and I wouldn't have been able to keep the button. Also, for the next 20 minutes or so, everyone that I came across was also on Tot and all had won. If I did know two people in WDW at that moment, and IF Gail was also with me, I would have given serious thought to sharing my wish. But you don't really have much time to give anything any real thought.

That's pretty cool that you got a dream! Too bad you weren't able to use it, though. Oh well, hey, you got one.

Too bad they couldn't give an alternate Dream if you couldn't use what they originally awarded you, like even if it's a single fast pass. Oh well, congratulations on your dream anyway.
