Exciting news is brewing on the south shores of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World Resort! We’ve received some wonderful updates about Disney Lakeshore Lodge, and it sounds like this nature-inspired retreat is going to be something truly special.

The latest “Letters from Lakeshore” update gives us a peek into The Wetlands, the resort’s beautiful outdoor recreation area. Imagine relaxing just steps away from the lobby, surrounded by the stunning beauty of Bay Lake. It sounds like the perfect place to unwind!

For families, The Wetlands will be a dream come true. Younger guests will love the play areas inspired by Disney Animation’s Pocahontas, featuring whimsical “Colors of the Wind” themes. Whether it’s climbing features at Heron Shores or splashing around Otter Springs, little ones are sure to have a blast.

If you prefer a slower pace, the lazy Daydream River looks like a fantastic way to soak in the views. And of course, there’s Lakeside Lagoon—a zero-entry pool perfect for cooling off under the Florida sun. Plus, for those who love a good fireworks show, Perspective Pond will offer a leisure pool and spa with prime views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks!

This nature-centric resort, which is projected to open in summer 2027, is shaping up to be an incredible addition to the Disney Resorts Collection. With 967 rooms and new Lake Houses, there will be plenty of ways to enjoy the serenity of the area while staying just a boat ride away from all the magic of Magic Kingdom.
We absolutely love how Disney is weaving nature into every detail of the lodge. Whether it’s the subtle nods to animated classics like Bambi or the seamless flow between indoors and outdoors, it really feels like this resort will be a peaceful escape for families.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on “Letters from Lakeshore” as construction progresses. We can’t wait to see what other details are revealed before the grand opening!
It’s such an exciting time to be planning future Walt Disney World vacations. Summer 2027 can’t come soon enough!
